I've had a chance to read my copy of Worlds of Dungeons & Dragons #3 and I loved it. Although I own Tales of Ravenloft , I actually hadn't read "Rigors of The Game" before. Ingenious story and subtle. Considering his power as a death knight, Lord Soth always stands the chance of being ...

I think the zeitgeist of D&D has as much to do with two things: 1) The level of technology. and 2) the zeitgeist of fantasy fiction and art of the time. I came to D&D, and then almost immediately to AD&D, in 1982. The big fantasy film of that period was released the previous year: Heavy ...

Issue 3 is finally out. Bought it today. Haven't read it yet. Just a warning for folks, though: The printing with the Lord Soth cover is a variant and costs $4 more than the Forgotten Realms cover - $9.50 !. I bought the standard cover. ($5.50 - still kinda steep.) Sorry DDP, I don't fork over cash ...

The one thing I'm seriously considering is allowing wizards/sorcerers "At will" abilities and "Per Day" abilities so that they don't have to retreat when they run out of spells. I am, however, considering making these "At will / Per Day" abilities dependent on having a ...

From the D&D entry I wrote for the Lovemarks web site: Dateline 1982: Donald Fagen has since left Steely Dan and is enjoying success with his single I.G.Y (International Geophysical Year), Prince's Little Red Corvette would dominate radio airplay the following summer, and a 12 year old boy, me, ...

In the context of art and architecture, landscaping, etc. "Gothic" means "medievalistic". (No idea if this word actually exists in English, but I am sure everyone gets the sense.) This was done to distinguish their art from the neoclassical movement. The original Gothic artists ...

I think those are two different things entirely. Gothic in Art as you put it is pretty well delimited in time, and refers to architecture, painting, jewelry and what not, but NOT literature. The relationship is loose but not non-existent. The term Gothic Literature developed after the fact and it w...

(Gothic here meaning the original Gothic movement, from the 1760s to the 1820s) If you want to get technical, the original Gothic movement was a medieval art and architecture movement from the mid-12th century to the beginning of the Renaissance. Anything during the Romantic period is Gothic Reviva...

Lessee:

You married a hot lady.

You made it to 25 years of marriage.

And, even after 25 years, your lady is still hot.

That's not supposed to happen to gamers !

Congrats !

Not a bad idea but keep in mind that anything that is standardized is predictable. While that may be good for low-level monsters, I don't think it fits a darklord when each one is supposed to be unique in his curse, story, and abilities. It might be useful to have a power "yard stick" but ...

Loved the flavor text ! If I were a player in that scene, I would have loved it to pieces! A vampire priest of one's own faith ! My PC, at that point, would have been dedicated to the "who, what, when, where, and how" of that dichotomy.

Great stuff !

:) Thank you very much, but survival horror won't do this time - last campaign was exactly what you describe. See the account of the Souragne horrors HERE . I am indeed looking for a pure fantasy campaign... With a few Gothic elements... :) OK, my suggestion then would be to use the "permissio...
