Godefroy: I like aqua teen hunger force. Surely the creator of that show must also be a tormented soul who gets no sleep at night. Dear Azalin, seriously, Strahds on the other side of the continent now. Can't you let bygones be bygones? Azalin: Whoever said distance would stop my pursuit for reveng...

I just give bonuses for characters against monsters "common" to the domain. For example, Verbrekans are not going to be as horrified by the sight of a werewolf as a Nova Vaasan would (knowing the typical Verbrekan, she/he would still run away in order to survive), or a Tepestani witnessing...

Personally, I'd recommend uncoupling the cleric's choice of healing vs inflicting from the choice of turning vs rebuking. Jargon about "positive vs negative energy" just lets game mechanics intrude upon in-character thinking and decision-making. If a good-aligned cleric of the Eternal Ord...

So individual clerics pick turn/rebuke depending on their alignment. So why be restricted to alignment? As long as it fits the concept and dogma, I am fine with it! Want a Good Cleric who believes that healing magic is wrong and makes people soft? Fine, as long as fits in the story/plot/adventure.

Olvaren rules his own Court, called the Soul-Saver's Court. It's goals are to prevent Changelings, seen as fellow "Arak," from being destroyed by purposeful negligence and/or violence by other Arak. Ordinarily, Olvaren would not have many supporters, but the stagnant nature of the Arak, as...

Undead, +/- Energy, and Religion

I have been wondering some things in my Ravenloft campaign. It does not list whether the Lawgiver and the Nevuchar Springs sect of Ezra, both Lawful Evil religions, view the undead. I would assume with the hostility between Theodorus Cranes and the Eternal Order, they would be antagonistic. But unde...

Fiction: "Gift" of the Arak

I looked in Van Richten's Guide to the Shadow Fey, and found that Arak view making a mortal into a Changeling to be making said mortal into one of the Arak. Hypocritically, the Arak have been known to pit changelings in life-threatening situations, while the two Court Lords find sacrificing Changeli...

Strahd was more into the romantic arts, what with Tatyana and all.

So a Vistani and Arak walk into a bar...

Okay, we all know how Vistani can travel to and from domain borders, and we know how the Shadow Rift is very hard to get into, but what of the Vistani's caravans? Are they able to cross into the Shadow Rift? Also, how would the Arak view the Vistani? As just mortals, or mortals that are more wise in...

You did bring up a valid question though, Roti. Would Azalin actually enjoy any ballads, odes or poems? Hee hee!! I don't know oh between his agenda of getting out of Demiplane and the Kargat and knowing everything about anyone who enters his Domain? In his decades of existance, he has definitely h...

In my opinion, "demihumans" in Ravenloft are fine as they are, if only there were more official material on them. Other than that, they feel quite fine. In addition, I think that the "nationalities" of demihumans should be spruced up; what makes a Borcan Halfling different than a...

Sorry if I have not posted in like, forever. I took a break from the Silent Hill project, as I have been working heavily on other RPG projects of my own. Not to mention exams, essays, homework, etc.

Silent Hill is, in my opinion, not Lovecraftian; the monsters and personal demons are follies of human vice and nature; in Lovecraftian horror, human desires are insignificant next to the machinations of the Old Ones; in Silent Hill, the greatest villains are no more than humans, not monsters: The H...

I thought that Mordent was the second most popular domain.

Yes. With all those concubines, it should be quite obvious that Vlad Drakov is a sex addict.
