The Tepestani believe that the history of the world is divided into four parts, corresponding to the four seasons of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. They think the world is currently in Autumn, and that the world will end at the end of Winter. Autumn is dominated by monsters like the Hags and Gob...

I tend to see them as experimenters who are trying to create new and interesting forms of Evil. Each Dark Lord is an exemplar of a certain type of Evil. Many of the Darklords were given Darklord status only after they'd demonstrated that they were in danger of being destroyed in their native environ...

But what I'm suggesting is that she has a curse something like Azalin's, so the only way she can learn something new is by eating her own children and absorbing their knowledge. Which means she is caught between two intense desires; the strong, almost compulsive desire to learn that motivated her to...

Brilliantlight, the reason I suggested that becoming an Aboleth might be an appropriate development for S is because the Aboleth's peculiar biology allows a direct linkage between the sacrifice of one's children and the acquisition of knowledge. If S were an Aboleth, she could gain knowledge by lite...

Brilliantlight, I agree with you that S had obviously not committed any Act of Ultimate Darkness at the end of Gaz 5. There was certainly no chance of her becoming a Darklord until after she'd finished her travels though Ravenloft. Judging from her meeting with the Gentleman Caller in Tepest in Gaz ...

Gazetteer Metaplot: Speculations on the Fate of S

Hello everyone! I used to be quite interested in Ravenloft in general, and the Gazetteers in particular, but it's been a few years since I revisited this site. But today I reactivated my old account here, and was quite surprised to see a letter to me from cure, written in late December 2007, which r...

Happy Halloween, everyone! Despite the computer problems, that was a great game. I'd like to thank the Fraternity and all of my fellow players for their contributions. I really enjoyed playing Conrad.

After the fires had died for lack of fuel, the end of a rope suddenly appeared above the now crumbled ruins of the Fraternity's headquarters. The rope, which seemed to hang from the empty air, began in a spot where, before the building's total destruction, the library's special collection had been s...

Can you find any mention in the Foxgrove-Weathermay book of a powerful necromantic book, Buchvold? I think it was named after an item of clothing. I do seem to recall the Twins talk about that...and I'd like to see if it's listed in this library's catalog." Conrad says.

"Not a bad idea, Crow," Conrad said in reply, "Though if we use it, we'd need to be careful not to bring the house down around us..."

"I have a Sending spell prepared, if we need to send a critical message before this is over," Conrad tells Crow and Buchvold. He takes the book Crow has given him to Buchvold. Then he thinks a moment, "You know, I've heard about the Guide to the Walking Dead myself, and as I recall, i...

"Right," Conrad says as he nods in agreement at Crow's suggestion that he search the western end of the library. He hastens to do so, looking not only for any sign of Van Rijn and his allies, but for anything else that might serve him and his Brothers as a weapon in these dangerous circums...
