Re: 15th Anniversary of the Book of Souls Netbook!

One thing I want to ask; if you where to end Ravenloft in a big end-of-setting blow out a la the Old World of Darkness, what, personally, would you have happen? Would you have plucked for a happy ending, or an everyone dies ending? Or something in between? I never gave much thought to this. I see R...

Re: 15th Anniversary of the Book of Souls Netbook!

Now, no flattering intended, oh Sinister Six, but I have always wondered one thing: You all seem like pretty educated, and intelligent guys, and IMO, your efforts, from the old website, to the S&S books, is what made the setting playable. (As opposed to most 2e stuff, that either was too sketch...

Re: 15th Anniversary of the Book of Souls Netbook!

Meh... that's too much like Dementlieu though. I would prefer a more Lovecraft alienland approach (like the place Cthulu was trapped in, with the weird angles or the Elder things home in Mountains of madness) than a Sci-Fi alien land approach. Or if it has to be Hidden enclave of 100-something mind...

Re: 15th Anniversary of the Book of Souls Netbook!

What were your favorite domains? I always tended to prefer the more "medievalish" domains. Barovia and Kartakass are high on my list. I also have a strange soft-spot for Forlorn despite all the things wrong with it. If you could re-do/redesign any domain which one(s) and how? Bluetspur do...

Re: 15th Anniversary of the Book of Souls Netbook!

Were there jokes that were camouflaged in a text and were never picked by the fans? (à la Tew Yssup, or with better taste?) I don't recall any hidden jokes, exactly (and certainly nothing along Tew Yssup lines; we tried to keep things as "all audiences" as a horror gaming site could reaso...

Re: 15th Anniversary of the Book of Souls Netbook!

A few general questions off the top of my head, probably the obvious ones: - Have you kept up on Ravenloft at all? Seen the latest Dungeon and Dragon magazines? I'll give that one a qualified yes. My, and my group's, interest in D&D fell off dramatically with the 5th edition announcement (we'd ...

Re: 15th Anniversary of the Book of Souls Netbook!

For the others, are you still gaming? Yes, actually quite a bit more often than I used to back in the Kargatane days. I joined my current gaming group about six years ago and we've been meeting almost every week since then. We played D&D 4E for around four of those years (none of it spent in Ra...

Re: 15th Anniversary of the Book of Souls Netbook!

15 years...that's still hard to believe! I wasn't involved in the online Ravenloft community when The Book of Souls was being put together, but I did discover it shortly after its release. At the time I'd never seen a netbook, and I hadn't given a thought to putting any of my own work online. But th...

As for Stu Turner and the Andrews Cermak and Wyatt, they haven't been active in gaming since the Kargatane dissolved half a decade ago, as far as I know. Hi John, hi Ryan, hi everyone else. I am still active in gaming, and have been in a weekly game for almost 4 years now, sometimes as a DM, someti...

However it happened, it was a fortunate change that hardly warrants the bile flying around here. VRGttWD turned out well, which was fortuitous. That doesn't mean the way the format change happened wasn't a problem. Imagine the same thing happening in a Gazetteer, where the format is explained to th...

Out of topic: I must confess that I am a bit shocked. I always thought of the Kargatane as the one big *dread* family that brought back the Mists into publication. I never thought that you all had so negative feelings towards each other after the end of your work. I'm not sure what you mean. The Ka...

Andrew, thank you for pointing that out. Since John Mangrum was a developer for Denizens of Darkness, the responsibility fell upon him to email all of the authors for that book his redlines. As it was, we did not receive them. I wondered if you'd go there. Decided not to "concede the point,&qu...

You changed the entries therein as an acting editor. But this was not your role. Rucht, if the developers sent him the manuscript for revision, and then used the revisions, it would seem that it was in fact his role, wouldn't it? EDIT: Also, since you were talking about Denizens of Darkness specifi...
