Re: Ways of Getting Around Canon...

There are also some fiends that should of had the subtype, but it wasn't listed properly. I believe the errata documents suggest that the assassin imp is a Mists-subtype fiend, and not a true outsider.

Re: Fiend's reality wrinkle and 5th edition lair effects

All I really have on the subject of Ebonbane is a line from material cut from Secrets of the Dread Realms that is now on Mistipedia : Incorporeal: Can only be harmed by other incorporeal creatures, magic weapons, or magic, with a 50% chance to ignore any damage from a corporeal source. Can pass thro...

Re: Questions & Thoughts on Avonleigh

However, another issue remains: Alexi Shadowborn founds the Knights of the Shadows but only after he has activated his powers as a Lodestone Paladin and imprisoned Lussimar within himself. The framing fiction from the Book of Shadows indicates that Alexi is himself held within a crystal coffin crea...

Re: Origin of Vistani, Ezra, Hala?

My larger point is that people are looking at documentation from the past which uses the term "gypsy", and impugning the authors for not using a neologism that wasn't even widespread or widely accepted. That is fair; we can't complain that people were not using "Roma" before it ...

Re: Cursebreakers [Campaign Design]

The game, however, fizzled and died before it got too far underway. It's been my experience that PbP games (whether I am helming them or acting solely as player) tend to wither on the vine more often than they don't. That's a shame. PbP is certainly a difficult medium. Even the ones that don't with...

Re: Origin of Vistani, Ezra, Hala?

After a bit of quick internet research, I learned that "Gypsy" is a term applied to the Romani people by non-Romani, based on a misconception that the Romani came from Egypt. Aside from that, it has gained more negative connotations by being used as the base for certain other unsavory wor...

Re: Fiend's reality wrinkle and 5th edition lair effects

Actually, with the rules as written a fiend cannot become a darklord. So, in order to trap it, the Dark Powers give the fiend access to rituals. Those rituals bind the fiend more and more to demiplane of dread until its corruption score becomes high enough that its reality wrinkle completely disapp...

Re: Origin of Vistani, Ezra, Hala?

So the word "Gypsy" became derogatory because people kept on saying it is derogatory. This is an ongoing process with many words in the English language. After a bit of quick internet research, I learned that "Gypsy" is a term applied to the Romani people by non-Romani, based on...

Re: Kartakass: Inspirations, Legends, and Plothooks

The Grandfather Animals, being a mixutre of folkloric and religious figures in Kartakass and the faith of the Ancestral Choir, have always been interesting to me. With them said to be frequently featured in the Mora (moral tales) which the Kartakan's are so fond of telling, I decided to come up wit...

Re: Fiend's reality wrinkle and 5th edition lair effects

I don't have specific information on Arijani, but as rakshasas do not have the Evil or Good subtypes, they do not gain reality wrinkles. Also, reality wrinkles sort of insulate fiends from the influence of the Realm of Dread (for example, by allowing a fiend to cross a closed domain border), so gene...

Re: Ravenloft themed Deck of Many Things

You 've got a point there. Maybe the Dark Powers have contained it somehow then and it needs apowerful ritual to be performed so that it can be freed. There is where the Dark Delvers come along to assist the Hated Mother and unleash her to the world. then again... If it mostly visited lesser-known ...

Re: Cursebreakers [Campaign Design]

There is an optional Blood Hunter order on DMsGuild that incorporates lycanthropy. That might have useful mechanical information to harvest.
