Thank you both, alhoon and Rock. That's great advice and I'll follow up on it. Cheers.

About To Run Hour Of The Knife. Any Tips?
My Ravenloft sessions are a bit of a compromise because I only have three players. So far, we've done Feast Of Goblyns which everyone felt went on a bit too long (it was my first time running it and I guess you only really find out how well a campaign runs when you play it through), followed by some...

Re: Seeking inspiration for Carnival and Forlorn Campaigns
Please forgive my ignorance but what is a Carnival campaign? My PCs recently ventured into Forlorn as a diversion from Feast Of Goblyns but I just ran a couple of the minor quests to give them a flavour for the place (and to try out my Scottish accent) before returning to the more pressing matter of...

Maybe because the players aren't really supposed to like Ravenloft?brilliantlight wrote: my players prefer large domains so why would I change it to something we don't like?

Fair enough. Not everyone likes change, I appreciate that.

Re: Dr Dominiani And The Crown Of Souls
I'm finding that Feast of Goblyns serves much more effectively as a springboard to further adventures than as an adventure unto itself. As above, I let my players dictate a new direction with the diversion into Forlorn (where, coincidentally, there is a sub-quest involving two characters who are on ...

Re: How big is your core?
I never had claustrophobia or anything like it so that feeling is meaningless to me. Close, tight spaces never upset me in my life. But claustrophobia might be an issue for your players. In which case, it might be worth investing some time into how that would affect your party, as opposed to dismis...

Re: Dr Dominiani And The Crown Of Souls
Well, Von Richten isn't actually in Forlorn. I had one of the characters encounter him on a coach ride through Kartakass and the party have assumed that the good doctor is in Forlorn. Which he isn't but I've let them assume that anyway. It's actually made for a fun diversion into the gloomy lands of...

Re: Dr Dominiani And The Crown Of Souls
Well, the party have regained the Crown - I went with the option of it being kept in the asylum caves. But now we have diverged from the main plot. The adventurers remember encountering an eccentric, vaguely Germanic doctor at some earlier point in the game and have elected to find him and ask him w...

Re: Saving Feast of Goblyns
I wish I'd read this before I started running Feast Of Goblyns, especially Gonzoron's excellent journal. Thanks for the compliment, though I too wish you'd read it in time to be of use. I'm glad that things seem to have worked out. As I said, with some work, this can be a really fun adventure... on...

Re: Dr Dominiani And The Crown Of Souls
Many thanks, you twisted pair! Mad men and some warped "misbegoten creation" seem to me to be the way to go here.
We play tonight and I'll give an update in the week about how it went.

Re: Saving Feast of Goblyns
I wish I'd read this before I started running Feast Of Goblyns, especially Gonzoron's excellent journal. Oh well, we live and learn and this module strikes me as being the kind of game where the flaws aren't so apparent until you start running it and your players begin to question why they're being ...
