Anyways to get thread back on track hooks I would use for Shinpi would be 1st establish if Islands are closed or not! (Japan was only closed for Tokugawa/ Edo bakufu years) 2nd do you have large gaijin population i.e. Similar country/ culture (i.e. China/ Korea and yes they are gaijin as well) If yo...

Re: Musings on Haki Shinpi
@ Ewencummins, Haven't looked at it yet. I'm living in Japan and English language books let alone RPG material is hard to come by. Usually just have family sent it to me for X-mas/ B-day. That being said, some of the older adventures like the Rakshaka and Dragon articles I have are good at giving yo...

Re: Musings on Haki Shinpi
It's not so much a faithful historical accurate representation of Japan, Germany, Balkans, Russia etc. it's more of does it have that flavor of culture is what we are trying to get across! Mixing and matching monsters etc is fine. But when your running an oriental based campaign it should feel like ...

Yurei/ ...

Re: Musings on Haki Shinpi
To be honest Rokushima Tayo is my least favorite area for Ravenloft! The problem I have is its 90% BS from the write ups I've seen! Not enough research into Asian culture per say! More people that are into anime etc! Don't get me wrong! I'm into anime as well, but I actually live here and can tell y...

Re: Musings on Haki Shinpi
A couple of ideas for using Gaijin 外人, Europeans historically you had the Jesuit priests and traders. Converted a good portion of Kyushu island before Christianity was outlawed. There was small trading port off of Nagasaki called Dejima, there also was small scale trading w/ Russians sometimes up in...
