Re: Any good ravenloft live campaign?

The first season of Dice Camera Action, Dmed by DM to the stars, Chris Perkins, is exclusively set in Barovia, as it is a run through of Curse of Strahd

The finale of season 2 is also set in Ravenloft, because you never get away clean

Re: Quick Question:

In my head canon the Kingdom of Barovia included Borca, Dorfinia and Markovia as well as Barovia Proper, so Strahd will not name himself king until he has reclaimed those lands (or those he can Markovia just up and vanished) which is part of his motivation in my War in the Core thread

Re: How could Malochio free himself?

He also technically never died. A stake through the heart immobilizes a vampire, it doesn't slay them permanently. Essentially Gundar pulled a Nathan Timothy. AFAIK, the corpse smuggling/resurrection gambit hasn't been tried yet. Wouldn't it be ironic if all Malocchio had to do was walk up to the b...

Re: How could Malochio free himself?

OK then I give up  :) The only reason I'm being pedantic about it is that I'm pretty sure that either The Evil Eye or VRG:Demons said Mal couldn't be contained as a darklord because of his fiendish heritage. I'll have to dig up the reference.... That's interesting if true, I've had it as head...

Re: How could Malochio free himself?

I could imagine a convoluted process, where he first kills his mother, becoming darklord of Invidia. This would supersede his curse and break it, but he'd be stuck in the domain anyway. Then he could groom someone else to become darklord, tricking them into killing him, with some plan in place to g...

Jander Sunstar and the Church of the Morninglord

So Jander Sunstar, elven vampire, was the saviour of Martin Pelkar, founder of the Church of the Morninglord in Ravenloft, and because of that church iconography represents the Morninglord as an elf with a blood stained mouth. I'm wondering, how would Sunstar react to the knowledge that he had inspi...

Re: How could Malochio free himself?

I've just skimmed through the Evil Eye module and I can find no specifics on the curse other than he is bound to Invidia. His curse was applied through a device called a sphere of binding, empowered by the Vistani and operated by the PCs, and as such has no "wording" that I can find.

Re: The church of Belenus

In the original black box rules (I've got a feeling it changed later), commune was only able to be cast by evilly aligned priests to evilly aligned gods, to some extent meaning that priests of good or neutrally aligned gods, such as Belenus, were without guidance. This has lead to mission drift, if ...

How could Malochio free himself?

I'm wondering about potential methods that Malochio could use to free himself from the Vistani curse, any ideas?

Re: In the beginning...

The demiplane in it's present (if shifting) form. There is a certain amount of evidence suggesting the existence of previous versions of the Matrix demiplane before the creation of the core as we know it, perhaps enough time for evolution. For myself though, I've always leaned toward "fantasy e...

Re: Personalizing Curse of Strahd to my PC's

With regards Eddard, male vistani seers are Dukkar, believed to bring doom to the Vistani, maybe that's why the DPs are interested

Re: In the beginning...

Fossils exist IMC. I'm not sure I have used them much, but they do exist. In a different sort of fantasy world, some fossils might simply be the remains of creatures petrified by magical attacks/monsters, but in Ravenloft I'd suggest fossils were: 1) products of spontaneous generation in the earth ...

Re: Weirdo bad guy - which is scarier?

Have the spider legs/tentacles operate the limbs, giving a distinct manner to the host's movement, but also have a "stinger" that plugs right into the spinal column for fine motor control, like gripping a sword, maybe a vorpal blade? As you're trying to portray the monster's internal struc...

Re: On the topic of Fantastic Racism

I would argue that in many D&D settings the discovery of an evil cult by PCs would often result in the death/surrender of said cult. Any cult members killed would be ok because the cult members are evil and killing evil things is ok, it's better than ok it's good. I think with Tepestians, as opp...
