Re: Official Neverwinter: Ravenloft
Haha Iron and Blood. How I wanted that to be good. Not everything can be a winner though. I did really enjoy Stone Prophet, however.

Re: How big is your core?
I use a larger core. Ravenloft is the world I use, so I want to be a world, not a place where the largest landmass is the size of Kansas.

He completely deserves the acclaim! Wonderful villian!Jimsolo wrote:
Of course, it's hard to go wrong with Strahd. To my mind, he's maybe even more of an iconic villain than Dracula. Dragon named him as their #1 villain of all time, and I think he well and truly deserves the title.

Re: Van Richten's guide to Eldritch horror.
Look at Lovecraft's own writing... Cosmic horror is still gothic and the next best thing to magic when you don't understand it. When it's all spelled out that's when it becomes science fiction. So cosmic horror jives perfectly with Ravenloft just don't go out of your way to explain it to the player...

Hazlik is another another favorite of mine. The Gazetteer really improved upon his character! His is super prolific with his experiments and ambitions, to have only lived one lifetime.

Re: Favorite Darklord
Strahd and Azalin are so intrinsically tied to the world that I can't consider them my favorites. They are both fantastic characters but they get a whole lot of the spotlight. Not that they don't deserve it.

Re: Favorite Darklord
If you can find your hands on them, there were a few Dungeon adventures that featured Valachan. Dungeon #42 features the hunt in Ungrad for a gluttonous nosferatu that has overstepped his bounds and potentially reveals the truth of the White Fever hoax. Felkovic's Cat (Dungeon 50) goes into more dep...

Very true. He isn't even the greatest villian in Lamordia, his creator certainly is.Rock wrote:Adam.

Re: Favorite Darklord
I especially like Urik von Kharkov, as he was a panther transformed into a human by a wizard. My love of cats--especially tigers--leads me to love rakshasas, so I also like Arijani. Of course, I am a big fan of mind flayers, so the Illithid God-Brain is a favorite of mine as well. I have always lov...

Favorite Darklord
Everyone let me know who is your favorite Darklord and why. I'm really partial to Meredoth ( he reminds me of Lim Dul the Necromancer from MTG's ice age.) Soth is basically Darth Vader for fantasy and is also one of my favorites. So many good villians, it's hard to decide.

Everyone counts out the God Brain. It's psychic powers are strong enough to control any mortal, and rip apart almost any undead.Jack the Reaper wrote:And what do you think will happen with the God Brain and Ebonbane?

Re: Banemaw
If it floats your boat, go for it, but I've never really liked the idea of a "real" Banemaw. I've seen many attempts at it over the years (illusion, outlander dragon, product of a dreamscape, mechanical dragon, etc.), but never seen one I like as much as a "paladin" blaming a dr...

Re: Banemaw
What if Banemaw turns out to be a rare good chromatic, redeemed by its own choice and struggling against its base impulses and upbringing? Its fight with Elena reflects its inner struggle; even though Banemaw is mighty and it can undo much of the harm Elena does by driving off her patrols and provi...

Re: Banemaw
I think Nidala is a good domain because it is a fantasy horror domain, and fantasy horror was sidelined in Ravenloft 3e. Nidala should be played as fantasy horror not gothic horror. If you want to fit Nidala into the gothic horror genre then its not a good domain. It does have a high fantasy appear...
