Re: 5E Curse of Strahd - Help, Strahd has Ireena! (Spoilers)

Hmm... I doubt Gertruda has seen many people, although surely Ireena knows of her existence. The larger problem for me is simply accommodations - Gertruda is in Strahd's bedroom. There's no way that Strahd is going to have Ireena take an inferior room to than Gertruda, who Ireena could easily mistak...

Re: 5E Curse of Strahd - Help, Strahd has Ireena! (Spoilers)

Thank you both for the replies, sorry it has taken so long to respond, but I had a minor bout of illness. There were some suggestions on Reddit that Strahd is beyond understanding the difference between enslaving her as a spawn and wanting her to be on his level. I thought that was a cop out and not...

5E Curse of Strahd - Help, Strahd has Ireena! (Spoilers)

Warning! Spoilers ahead for those who have not played through Curse of Strahd! This post is re-posted from Reddit where I didn't get much of a response, and you people know Ravenloft and Strahd's motivations much better. I am looking for ideas about how to proceed with the module where Ireena has b...

Re: So... How would you feel about Lamordia reimagined...?

Thanks for the reply. I've perused QtR22 in the article you mentioned, and the first thing I noted is how vastly more populated this slant on Lamordia is - Neufurchtenberg is over 60,000 people, more than 60 times the population of 3.x Ludendorf... This is a true re-imagining but maybe a little too ...

So... How would you feel about Lamordia reimagined...?

Okay, so I have had a little pet project over the years - an unnatural fondness for Lamordia, and the adventure Adam's Wrath. I converted it originally to Pathfinder and then more recently to 5e, but did so in it's entirety (i.e., rewrote the entire adventure for my own purposes, so I can't just rel...

Re: Ravenloft Artbook of Talon Dunning

Oh, well, I had better hope you decide to release a POD version. Your artwork made 3.x of Ravenloft interesting. It is a shame they couldn't get you to fully illustrate everything in them... You mean do every illustration? It rarely works that way. You generally want a book with a bit of artistic d...

Re: Ravenloft Artbook of Talon Dunning

Is a pdf version of Out of the Mists available somewhere? A printed book would be good, but I would settle for a pdf. None of the links on Fantastic Gallery mention it at all.

Re: Fixing Adam's Wrath

Ok, so on Monday night, I finally finished Adam's Wrath. Or rather, as much as we were going to ever run, since there is no incentive for our heroes to return to the Isle of Agony. So, what happened? Spoilers ahead. Well, as expected, the Von Aubrecker estate happened. Even though I added a tribe of...

Re: Fixing Adam's Wrath

I ended up going with a 50% chance. It was funny actually, because right until the last moment, everyone was going "Oh, I don't trust Doctor Mordenheim, there's no way this is going to go right", so they all were about to not choose a better body than the original when one of them caved, a...

Re: Fixing Adam's Wrath

I am glad everyone is interested. I will try to stick to the subject at hand. I have decided to make the PCs an attractive offer, but they will get to make the choice themselves... How do I present it in such a way as to make the offer enticing? Most of my PCs are actually grey. And probably would c...

Re: Fixing Adam's Wrath

I don't think the idea of TPK for the sake of story is all that bad, but the players need to be in on it somehow I think. Additionally, they should never be punished due to a plot point - only their decisions. So any loss of equipment, life or limb should due to plot should probably be temporary. Pe...

Re: Fixing Adam's Wrath

It is a bit bull, yeah... although perhaps the way to do it is to offer the PCs a chance to have a cloned body, or to allow the doctor to make a few improvements. These should be presented in a specific way, but offer the PCs a choice. Choosing the no changes path does not warrant a powers check, bu...

Re: Fixing Adam's Wrath

So the Horg clone makes sense. I have just named him Horg in my campaign. I am not doing straight Ravenloft - the PCs come from a world that is like a fantasy reimagining of Pirates of the Caribbean mixed with Cthulu Mythos. They came through a portal and landed in the Sea of Sorrows, so I did TPK t...
