Re: Mordent-Mordentshire

Assuming, of course, that the Darklord (or Darklords) in question aren't employing that mob for some cunning old "Just As" Plan! :lucas:

TAROKKA - ASKING FOR A HAND

I was recently reading up on Tarot and was reminded of Ravenloft's very own slant on the Grand Arcana et al - a little more reading later and I realised that there have been multiple interpretations of Lady Fate's very own card trick (different names applied to the same card, the same deck being ass...

Re: Domain on the month: Verbrek.

Arkendale died bloody and only the toughest opportunists survived - many of the smartest now make a living by borrowing, thieving or soldiering in neighbouring domains and now some of them have struck on a nice little scheme; they will lead the brave, the stupid or the terminally reckless on a hunti...

Re: Domain on the month: Verbrek.

What happens when the Woods turn against the Werewolves? SOMETHING has come into the Wilds of Verbrek and it has made those high-timbered forests as dangerous for the Moon-turned as they have made it lethal to the Unchanged - yet what has changed the Woods is no friend to the Human Kind, for the Ful...

Re: A concept it might be interesting to explore

Why make fun of yourself when other people are so much more interesting?

Re: Mordent-Mordentshire

No campaign on the go at the moment, but were I running or playing through a Ravenloft Campaign one would prefer to avoid Mass Warfare on the whole. My own mental image of the Demiplane of Dread is very much a "New World" sort of setting, where populations aren't really large or organised ...

Re: Mordent-Mordentshire

Bows are not easy. It takes a lot of practice to become a good archer, and if one is expected to handle a longbow with a heavy draw weight, then we're talking years and years of training. Yet what about the crossbow, which is roughly as easy to learn as the arquebus and arguably has better range &a...

Re: Mordent-Mordentshire

I'd imagine that the limitations of early firearms (in rate of fire and ease of re-usability when it comes to their missiles*) would also help keep bows competitive against smoke-poles!

*If nothing else it's much easier to find and re-use an arrow than it is to re-use spent shot!

Re: Adam's Wrath original cover

I wonder who made this picture, why did TSR replaced it, and how did the Last Wizard get the original (if that's what it is)? Well I think that whatever the answer to the first two questions, if a Wizard did it then the answer to question number three is obviously "MAGIC" of course! :hazl...

AMAR BORI SANDFLINGER (Gnome 6th-level Illusionist/Thief)

Amar Bori Sandflinger hails from the prestigious Sandflingers of the far-off Misty Hills, or at least that is what he says. Amar Bori has never been known to lie, but he has a reputation around Osterton of stretching the truth into some rather odd configurations. He states that his present circumst...

T.G. REDANTO (8th-level Thief-Acrobat)

T.G. Redanto has been known to tell people his initials stand for “"Terribly Good”—" - not a preference for alignment, but rather his own assessment of his abilities. Redanto tends to be flashy in his work and in his mode of dress. Possession of his bracers allow him a bit more variety th...

THADEUS MONT BREEZAR (10th-level Magic-User)

Thadeus Mont Breezar feels old. A lot of the fun has gone out of crusading across the countryside, counting on the fighters to preserve your hide. The key to Thadeus’' irritation, however, is his new glasses. His vision has deteriorated to the point he cannot hit anything at over 30 feet away (trea...

MYSTI TOKANA (Half-Elf 5th-level Ranger/Magic User)

Mysti Tokana is the scribe, student, and (it is rumored, though not to her face), the half-elf daughter of Thadeus Mont Breezar. The last is untrue, though the human rabble needs explanations as to why a crotchety old human mage takes on a young half-elf as an assistant, and rumors of being a daugh...

PHILIPPE DELAMANA (9th-level Paladin)

Phillipe Delamana is a very depressed Paladin. As a fighter of the first water, the leader of the holy armies against Evil, and a stalwart foe of Darkness in all its forms, he has in his long career come upon a depressing fact: Evil keeps coming back. It may be defeated, it may be repulsed, or it m...
