Re: Does Althea (QtR #21) deserve Darklordship?

Re: Hive Queen - while the pre-Darklord backstory is pretty solid, half of the modern picture of the domain is about the dopplegangers, not her, while the other half is about her being a glorified egg sac. So, yeah. With Althea's original appearance, we don't just know she wants to mate, we know she...

Re: The 3 Hags of Tepest

I'm being lazy and not double checking, but I seem to recall that part of their curse is that they don't trust each other, if not outright hate each other, but they're stuck with each other. Immediately before their curse, they were each planning to betray the other two, and they all know it. Now, t...

Re: Does Althea (QtR #21) deserve Darklordship?

There are plenty of male darklords who have backstories revolving around romance or parenthood, yes, but there are plenty who don't. Azalin, Markov, Dr. Dominiari, Ebonbane, Dr. Mordheim/Adam, Drakov, Arijani, Alfred Timothy, Ankhtepot, Yagno Petrovna... some of their stories may have involved women...

Re: Does Althea (QtR #21) deserve Darklordship?

I think part of the Evil-o-Meter for the hags was their betrayal of family, not just what they did to random travelers. Part of their ironic hell is being stuck with each other, after all. As for Althea, I know the source material is rather limited, but it would be nice to see more (any?) female Dar...

Re: Alternate FoG villain?

So, having mulled it over a bit... Juste comes across a play where a prisoner conjures an army of goblyns, and thinks it offers him an escape from the theatre, or at least expanding his domain to whatever the goblyns conquer for him. To this end, he allies with Akriel to take Gundarak. The sketchy l...

Re: Alternate FoG villain?

It's less "I don't want them killing him early" and more "I'm playing up his asylum as having a good reputation, and they'll be comparing notes with VR periodically, so knowing about him early would prevent them from feeling relieved at the asylum." Mentioning Juste gave me an id...

Alternate FoG villain?

I'm planning out my Highlights of Ravenloft Canon campaign, and I eventually want to use Bleak House as the climax of a series of interactions with Van Richten. The problem here is that I don't want Dominiani spoiled for my players before then, which means I need a substitute for Feast of Goblyns. A...

Winning converts

So after considerable wrangling, much whimpering on the part of my victims, and threatening to hold all later editions hostage until I can demonstrate how the 2e-to-3e transition was handled in-universe, I have (finally!) roped some friends into a campaign in which I take them on a time-warped whirl...

Re: Starcrossed: A Ravenloft Comic Discussion

Thank you so much for finishing this! Your work is amazing- is there anyplace I can see more of it?

Also, in the Sept 28 page, are we supposed to recognize the "murderer?" I feel like I should, but I'm having a fit of the stupids.

Re: Light in the Belfry inquiry

I'm not necessarily looking for a file share. DriveThru doesn't have it, or I'd go there. If there's another digital store that has it, I'll happily drop a bit more money on it.

Light in the Belfry inquiry

So, I was planning my Halloween gaming event, and I was considering running Light in the Belfry, becauseit's been over a decade since I ran it last, and nothing scares my current gaming group like making them use 2E rules. However, I cannot for the life of me find the accompanying CD. Any suggestion...

Re: Evil for evils sake ignored

How about we generate a distinction between murder (illegal/unethical taking of life) and slaughter (immoral/evil taking of life)? Would that make a difference?

Re: Evil for evils sake ignored

General objective alignment rules that have served me well: MORALS: "Good" generally tries to do things that benefit other people. There is no restriction on benefiting one's self, provided the motive/result is not selfish or taking advantage of others. "Evil" generally tries to ...

Re: 2E balance help

There's enough real-world drama in our group that we can't meet regularly right now, but I'll be damned if I'd let Halloween pass by without doing something for it, even if it's a one-shot
