Re: Modernizing Ravenloft

I had a lot of luck simply placing traditional Ravenloft adventures directly into the "real" world for Call of Cthulhu games. I particularly liked my experience with using Castle Ravenloft on a group of ethnographers and a World War 1 veteran. You find subtle changes as you work through th...

Re: Pictures that would work for RavenLoft

The Peace Corps and Mongolia...two things that I never thought I'd hear in the same sentence.

Re: Mummy: the Curse (NWoD) is out! Holla!

As an aside, I enjoy having a variety of templates. But it makes me miss out on the cool team abilities in the Hunter series. Is that Reckoning or Vigil ? WHAT?! No Mage ?!?! Or Changeling for that matter? That would be Vigil. My Reckoning knowledge was mainly based on the X-Box and Playstation gam...

Re: Mummy: the Curse (NWoD) is out! Holla!

My previous NWOD games (and CWOD for that matter) have been heavy with vampires and werewolves. I think I might just put Promethean, Mummy, and Geist on the table next time and see what happens. I can't wait to see how they interact. As an aside, I enjoy having a variety of templates. But it makes m...

Mansions of Madness Boardgame

I just opened my copy of this game last night and played with two investigators and myself as keeper. At first glance this is a pretty cool game based on the Cthulhu Mythos. Fantasy Flight Games produced it and it shows in the fantastic artwork and quality game pieces. Most of the players are invest...

Re: Mummy: the Curse (NWoD) is out! Holla!

I haven't gotten my copy yet. But I was looking at the PDF version the other night. It looks pretty cool. I like how the vampire's Blood Potency and the werewolf's Primal Urge begin low and increase with power but the mummy version appears to move in the opposite direction until they die and are reb...

Re: Boss Fight Musica

I've used Nightwish in the past. Particularly "End of All Hope" during the battle with Azalyn in From the Darkness/Roots of Evil. The beat is heavy and quick and fits battle nicely. You could also use "Over the Hills and Far Away." Listen to "Isolated" by Chiasm. Or You...

Re: Come one, come all come to The Carvival: The Temple

Silently, Valentin begins helping the priest clean the temple. He is careful and diligent in this duty, almost reverent.

Re: Campfire tales: tell us about YOUR old adventures!

It was during the illustrious reign of Dungeon and Dragons 2nd Edition. I had scavenged all of the various Complete Handbooks for archery tricks and collected them into one list. My skills at archery were epic. The DM was overly found of goblins in vast numbers. So, eventually we found ourselves fac...

Re: Come one, come all come to The Carvival.

Valentin glances back at the temple. "Well, if we're going our separate ways for a while. Call me if you need me. I'd like to help out at the temple for a while. I've never really had the opportunity to spend time at a temple to the Morninglord." He scratches the back of his neck for a mom...

Re: Clues needed

If the bard frequents the bandit camp regularly, she would have her own place to sleep. Maybe a tent. You can make it apparent to the players that this tent is not decorated by a bandit. Some of the bard's personal items are here and this can lead your players to think that there is another player a...

Re: Come one, come all come to The Carvival.

In the midst of silent prayers, Valentin smiles and looks up at the ceiling as if to silently explain Tirso to the Morninglord. Then he bows his head momentarily, stands, and waits to follow the others out.

Re: Come one, come all come to The Carvival.

Valentin quickly thanks the priest in the manner of the Morninglord. Then he turns to the others.

"We can only ask. Hopefully, he will help."
