I, too, just wanted to drop by and say I really enjoyed the fiction. I'm a big Call of Cthulhu/Ravenloft fan and seeing both of them blended so well gives me a great deal of hope for the future of Ravenloft fiction.

I just have to say that while I really liked the plot and story of Dark of the Moon, the two different groups I ran through it both hated it. In both cases, they were annihilated by the Loup Garou when they finally got tired of being chased and tried to stand up to their tormentors (and having learn...

Dragon Issue #350 Blurb

I just got my copy of Dragon #350 and on page 12, at the bottom there is a panel for 'Next Month in Dragon #351'. Interestingly enough, there is an article on the World Serpent Inn that talks about various past campaign settings including Ravenloft - specifically it mentions in the article "Rav...

No to Retcon

I'm not a prolific writer on these boards, but I felt I have to throw in my 2 cents. I have to emphatically say No to retconning the setting. While alternate timelines are interesting (528 Barovia), to say that the setting is stifling the creativity of DM's because there is too much material detaili...

Personally, if you are really serious on getting into reading a lot of of gothic writings I suggest starting at the beginning with Horace Walpole's "Castle of Otranto". Then from there I suggest the following: "The Castle Spectre" & "The Monk" by Matthew Lewis, Cla...

I am not owned, thank you very much. :) It was a good prank, nonetheless. Should have realized that April Fool's Day wasn't that far away and some of the behavior that David exhibited seemed a bit... well, too childish for the level of professionalism exhibited by the Frat. But then again, I have se...

Tome of Magic: The Shadowcaster

Has anyone else on these boards picked up Tome of Magic yet? I've been reading through it and have found it very intriguing. I'm already planning on incorporating all three new types of magic into my Ravenloft campaign. I have been reading through Shadow magic for the past day now and noticed a nice...

Dragon #323: See No Evil article

I just recently picked up a copy of this Dragon and came across this article with its alternate Detect spells and was thinking of trying to integrate it into my campaign. I was curious if anyone on these boards have done so, and if so, how well did it go for your campaign?:?: For those of you who do...

I've always been a fan of the Amber Wastes; that's my vote!

(Though I'd like to also say that the Shadowlands Cluster and the Verdurous Lands Cluster are tied for second).

Oh, I think I blocked those from my memory. <shudder> They are quite bad.

Guess I'll just have to get out the washbin and re-brainwash myself to forget about them again. :)

While I didn't see anything in VRGttWD on how to bestow intelligence upon mindless undead, there ia a 7th level Sor/Wiz spell in Libris Mortis that does just that. It's called Awaken Undead (page 62). The only problem I see with it is it has a duration of Permanent (D), which mean that a Dispel Magi...

Bruce R. Cordell has done a lot of books. Here are just the ones I could find on the D&D website. Bastion of Broken Souls Complete Psionic Enemies and Allies Epic Level Handbook Expanded Psionics Handbook Forge of Fury, The Grasp of the Emerald Claw Heart of Nightfang Spire Lady of Poison Libris...

Not very creative on my part, but have you taken a look on the web for horror plays? I just did a quick search and there are dozens of free scripts for various plays that could give you plenty of ideas. And if that fails, borrow scenes from Shakespeare (dealing with the witches in MacBeth, or trying...

An old, obviously antiquated painting that shows a distinguished figure that the characters easily recognize... one of the party members. Beneath the painting is a comemorative plaque that says something like "<Character's name>. Their death shall have a purpose." Or simply "The end h...
