Re: Ravenloft in American Politics
When I read the thread title, I thought "US Congress as a collective Dark Lord. Cursed to run one of the most powerful domains in the dread realms, but never gets things done," and then I got sad because I didn't have to do anything to make it accurate.

Re: Ravenloft to L5R RPG (10 Jul '13 - CLASS: COURT POISONER
A big ol' thread necro incoming. Haven't visited in a while, and I'm kinda sad to see this hasn't been updated in a long time. I'm actually going to be running this to try it out (I'm using the current L5R school techs in a Ronin type "build your own class" kinda way, with some limitations...

Re: Great video games to play with a Gothic atmosphere
Darkest Dungeon is a gothic survival horror roguelike, where you are summoned to the estate of a dead relative, who tells you that things have gone absolutely pear-shaped. You hire heroes, everything from an Arbalest to Occultist, that show up in town to explore the ruins that your once prestigious...

I come back and see a guy talking about the purity of anime and McCulture ruining niche media. What the fresh hell.

Re: Dragons in Ravenloft
I was toying around with a "benefactor of a benefactor" for the party being an eastern dragon. The benefactor is a merchant from Rokushima who received a blessing of sorts from the dragon: in exchange for wealth and knowledge from beyond his sphere of influence, he gave her the "skill...

Re: Pathfinder in the Mists
DR/- is flat physical damage resistance, otherwise it would be DR/(Insert damage type that overcomes the DR here). Unless a hyphen is the counter to DR/-.

I've definitely increased the size of the Core. the sub-Switzerland size didn't really sit well with me. It's not huge, but it's huge by comparison. Approximately England sized, I'd say.

Re: Dragons in Ravenloft
That is true. It's something that I keep forgetting. I suppose because I'm pretty hands-off with them, as I'd rather use them as a plot device unless I specifically want the party to take a run at them, which hasn't come up yet.

Dragons in Ravenloft
Sometime down the road, I was considering the possibility of dragon shenanigans in my game. However, thinking about it, I don't know how exactly I'd handle them in a thematically appropriate fashion. How exactly do you use something that is as entrenched in the traditional fantasy trappings as a dra...

Re: Personal Canon
Dementlieu speaks Dementlieu, not Mordentish. It's exactly Mordentish, but Dementlieu is egotistical, so screw those guys, We created it. Lamordia has signs that it once was a religious land, but sites have been abandoned for at least a century or two. There is a small chapel to Ezra near the border...

Re: What is the best game system to run Ravenloft
I want to try Dungeon World/Grim World(when it lands) due to the strong narrative vibe it seems to nourish, but I'm already running a game in Pathfinder, which works alright I suppose, and all the other Game Night slots are filled up with fairly new or about-to-start games.

Re: Mundane Horrors
Had another session last night. The group consulted some of the locals for some insight into why the wolves are so intent on attacking the encampment. Some fear that a curse may have been placed upon the site, while a select few think it might be a witch or druid controlling the wolves. The party's ...

Re: Mundane Horrors
I have been toying with a serial killer idea, but nothing set in stone yet. A while back I had a human cult headed by a nobleman that was attempting to revive a vampire, and used his daughter as one of the feeders to speed it along. That got my party whipped up pretty good, and they felt pretty righ...
