Re: Give the PC's a purpose.

The Interview With A Vampire soundtrack makes good background music for Souragne. I googled "scary swamp" images to help with the visualizations for this domain. Also, curses on characters or cursed items can give a sense of purpose or add to the theme of your campaign. Certain events must...

Re: Red Riding Hood

IMO Gary Oldeman is pretty consistent in the quality of movies he signs on for. I love the intensity he always brings. This flick turned out to be better than what I expected and I was pleasantly surprised. I recall seeing Leonardo Dicaprio's name in the credits as a producer.

Re: THe Created Module---Hook Concern

When I ran this module a few monthes ago there were only three pcs in the group so I had Aldo the constable tag along as an npc. There was was a little girl wandering the streets alone. The carrionettes hijacked a carriage and she was in their path. Aldo was making his way to grab her out of harms w...

Re: Ravenloft Novels

I have read them all except for Death of a Darklord (didn't want to waste my time) and Lord of the Necropolis. A few I have read and don't recall so well because it has probably been ten or fifteen years ago since I read them. Tales of RL was the first RL "novel" I read, but the interactio...

Re: What do you guys think of "Rules Nazis" as DMs?

When my friends and I first started playing RPGs several yerars ago all of us played by the rules strictly. As years went by we have become more liberal. As long as everyone agrees and adheres to rules changes or omissions everything should be all gravy. The bottom line is, if it makes the game more...

Re: Influences and Inspirations

I like any Lovecraft of course. Poe and Hawthorne are also inspirations for me. Braham Stoker has a short story titled The Judge’s House, that inspired a low level side trek adventure for a solo player adventure. I have some Midnight Syndicate and Nox Arcana music I play in the background when I'm b...

Re: Why Islands? Reshaping Ravenloft

I too have made some of the islands part of the Core. I replaced Markovia with Souragne in the Sea of Sorrows. I feels this presents more oppurtunites for plots. I also positioned Vorostokov northeast of Darkon via a mistway. Farelle has been placed southwest of Sithicus and south of Valachan and ha...

Re: New Ravenloft Game

Man what a coincidence! I just finished DMing NOTWD in my last session over this past weekenend! I was very pleased with the way things turned out. My players loved it as well. Anyway, I am running my campaign with a similar approach. Aside from a couple home brewed adventures I kicked the campaign ...

Re: Back in the saddle; Ravenloft 2E

Yes, my friends and I are some of those who never left 2nd edition (for very long anyway). My buddies and I find 2nd edition to be our favorite. This is the edition that we all learned and enjoyed through our adolescent years. However we are not lazy, we decided this is more suited to our particular ...
