My Savage Worlds-Ravenloft redu

I am working on a campaign for January, using the Ravenloft setting but with the Savage Worlds rules. It is intended to be more of a full Hammer Studios version of the demi-plane so I think the SW will work well. I also plan to make a number of changes, the biggest being that I will advance the core...

Ravenloft in Massachusetts

Trying to round up folks for a 2E Ravenloft game that would be fairly regular if possible in the North Shore Boston area. Don't know if this is the correct place to post this (hopefully the mods will nudge me in the right direction if it isn't). If you are near and interested let me know (game would...

Re: How Gothic is your Ravenloft?

My ravenloft campaigns tend to be a touch campy and embrace e hammer studios angle.

Re: What do your Ravenloft campaigns usually look like?

What approach do you usually take to planning and running a Ravenloft Campaign? What I am after is not only the overall shape of you campaign but also the kinds of things you like to include over the course of it (i.e. Vampire hunt, murder mystery, etc). Alsi what domains do you generally gravitate...

Caligula RPG

I finally finished my rpg set during Caligula's reign. I think Ravenloft fans will appreciate it (hope this is the right subforum): Servants of Gaius released in PDF: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=99908 Servants of Gaius (from the book): As Neptune’s armies threaten the empire, ...

Re: Gundar and Feast of Goblyns

Gundar also made an appearance in one of the early ravenloft novels (i believe knight of the black rose or vampire of the mists). Feast of Goblyns is a great adventure, but like lots of material from that period if you cant wrap your heade around something it is best to change it. When I ran feast o...

Re: Which Edition to Run?

The Grand Conjunction modules, while it's sad they're gone, were not very good. The adventures were disjointed at best, nonsensical at worst. That's definitely true as a campaign. To be fair, there are some cool individual adventures in the Grand Conjunction - namely Feast of Goblyns and Night of t...

Re: Which Edition to Run?

THAC0 is arithmetic. I can't believe many gamers have problems with subtraction. Anyway, just go with the edition you prefer. Each has system strengths and weaknesses, but any is viable for the setting. If you want some strengths and weaknesses, I've got a pro/con thread here: http://www.fraternity...

Re: The City of Ravenloft

I think their power should be less directly political in most cases. They could wield a lot of influence, be masters of the criminal underworld, or head a major trade guild. Their conflicts and goals should also be the major shaping forces of the city.

Re: Which Edition to Run?

I ran 2nd edition after ten or so years of not using it, last year. It worked brilliantly. We were all a little hesitant going in because everyone recalled THAC0 and the stigma has been there. The overall reaction was that 2e is a perfect fit for the setting. If you use NWPs that helps a lot and the...

1)Joesoph Stalin

I always thought Ivan Dilisnya was modeled a bit on John Hurt's portrayal of Caligula.

Re: Ravenloft 1E

From what I can recall, the 2E version of the adventure (House of Strahd) has relatively few changes from the 1E once you get inside the Castle itself. I can't remember if the gypsy fortune teller session has been preserved or not. The 3E version (Return to Castle Ravenloft) is very different, howe...

Ravenloft 1E

So they will be reprinting the 1EAD&D core books. Anyone else planning to use the occasion to run the original Ravenloft Module? Has anyone run a regular Ravenloft campaign using 1E instead of 2E or 3E?

Re: Poll: What Scale Do You Use?

The original scale worked fine for me. The mutable scale of the d20 version just felt too strange to me.
