Re: Farelle & Wildlands--New Info

To be fair, the two versions of Farelle were written (off the cuff, in one case) without any real regard for each other. But... Folk horror often hinges on the horror being hidden beneath a veneer of pleasant community living. There're also the tropes that good is not nice (and conversely, that nice...

Re: Pathfinder and Ravenloft

While you *can* make NPCs in the same way as PCs in PF2, the best option is to create them from scratch with statistics equivalent to monsters at the level you want. PF2 explicitly takes out the simulationist expectation that PCs and NPCs follow the same rules. The good aspect of this is that the on...

Re: Farelle & Wildlands--New Info

The canine theme also brings to mind the dingoes of Australia, which dovetails nicely with that set up as well. The domain might have to be expanded significantly, however, much like Vorostokov in order to really get that isolated feeling across! And the whole stuff with dogs does remind me of Aust...

Re: Gaz 5 stats for Gwytune Arak

While I never expected that anyone would care enough to ask, all of the feats related to the manipulation of magic are inherent, and those related to an eternity of study (Skill Focus) are learned.

Anything else you'll have to make up for yourself though - that's about the limits of my memory.

Re: Gaz 5 stats for Gwytune Arak

They're bonus racial feats. The line saying so has been deleted somewhere along the way. Gaz IV and V were being written immediately after the release of the 3.5 rules, and the unfamiliarity with the new system, plus system and formatting differences with 3e blocks (and perhaps Swords and Sorcery kn...

Re: Gaz 5 stats for Gwytune Arak

It's a typo. It should be "wizard." Drinnik is right.

Re: Why is Victor Mordenhiem a woman now?

Just as a note, I’m sure ages ago Ryan Naylor said if he could have he would have made Alanik gay in VRA. And when John Mangrum was doing his Teeny Tales of Terror (which someone really should collate, or if you read John, can you donate a copy to the Frat?) when I contributed my entry for the Hebi...

Re: Ivana Boritsi, "experimental"? (calling Dr Freud or Nay

I missed that Hazlik was ashamed of that. I thought he was enraged about being defeated and humiliated by his enemies. I thought so too, actually. Gaz I doesn't mention any shame for his sexuality - just shame regarding his public humiliation. I think there's a difference between a (gay) man being ...

Re: Ivana Boritsi, "experimental" ?

That might be a reference to the bits about in Ravenloft MC I and II (p. 77) and Gaz IV (p. 21) Correct. Both Nostalia specifically, and the ermordenung generally, and her interaction with Gennifer (which IIRC was intended to be read ambiguously). And of course Lucretia Borgia, upon whom she is loo...

Re: Domain of the Month: Rokushima

I've always been a fan of the Scattered Lotus Cluster idea from the Pathfinder stats guy, especially the lord of the Poison Sea domain. Ravenloft needs more dragons, and I liked their being another non-humanoid darklord. Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Albeit slightly concerned to be "the ...

Re: Has anyone used Ravenloft with the Spheres System for PF

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the Pathfinder conversions. I have tried the Spheres system using the conversions of the traditional classes, rather than the new classes designed to interact with the sphere system. It worked pretty well. Casters are less powerful and flexible, but are able to use their a...

I was primarily making a joke. However, you have missed the original Tsien Chang.

Azalin is technically not a necromancer. He's a universalist with a lot of necromancy spells.

Re: The Kargatane: Where are they now?

Thanks all for your kind words! Thanks for the response Ryan. I'm glad to hear that life is working out for you, and I hope it continues to do so. Really enjoyed your work on converting the Darklords over to PF. Often as much the reasoning you had behind making certain decisions with the characters ...

Re: The Kargatane: Where are they now?

I wonder (without prying into private affairs), what's happened to them? To answer your questions slightly more fully, at least from my point of view: Do they still play Ravenloft? Have they moved on? Yes I do, using Pathfinder. I both GM and play. I have not moved on. Do they have any regrets abou...
