Re: (PF + 5e) "Haglings" in Ravenloft?

The whole soul-swapping deal feels like a bit much... and more Grand Guignol than "witchy."

I mean, your article, your call, but it seems like adding an extra step for its own sake.

Re: (PF + 5e) "Haglings" in Ravenloft?

I don't know if I'd give Night Hags in the 'Loft Changeling offspring- and since I'm loathe to make Van Richten totally incorrect, I'd tinker with their conceptual underpinning a bit... Maybe in the Demiplane, all hag daughters are fated to become Hags unless , say, the Witches of Hala get a hold of...

HAHA! ! !
So you came around finally to abandon the AD&D 2nd to it's deserved obscurity! I knew you would come around eventually. 15 years is not that much for an undead.
Not really. I just do both now. :lucas:

Re: Therianthropes: Mating and Aging

This thinking, while providing a good viewpoint, seems to imply though that therianthropes born with one animal parent would live shorter lives than those born of a humanoid parent, or even two therianthropes as parents. I don't think that sort of imbalance is the sort of thing you're going for wit...

Re: Therianthropes: Mating and Aging

I've also never taken well to the alignment restrictions placed on characters, and always thought that every non-outsider has a chance to be of any alignment, more so than the books imply should be the case. While it's beside the point of your post, I feel compelled to mention that I deal with this...

On How One Scares Combat-Stacked Characters-

From the introduction to the Legend of the Five Rings adventure Mirror, Mirror "[C]reating horror in Rokugan is a different dance than trying it in GURPS Horror or Call of Cthulhu. If everyone is in character (which we are assuming in an otherwise functional game) you aren't trying to scare rep...

Re: Languages in a weekend in hell campaign

Largely with Drinnik here- If it's a "Weekend in Hell," just have their version of Common "happen" to be the local tongue.

Saves a lot of hassle, while still letting you throw incomprehensible foreigners at them.

Re: Evil player characters in Ravenloft: A Dissenting View

One of the best Ravenloft campaigns I was ever part of was an all-evil party, We were a mixed bag of Falkovnian war criminals, amoral scum from the Mordentish-speaking domains, and one particularly shifty and untrustworthy Kartakan bard. We were brought together by your friend and mine, Rudolph von ...

Re: Characters still on the sheet

Well, aside from my namesake (who Walked with Halflings many, many years ago...), there are two 'Lofters I've never had a chance to use in tabletop Ravenloft but that I've always had a soft spot for- Alexander Weathermay- His entire schtick was that he is actually about as old as the Domain of Morde...

Back for a Visit...

Wow. I'm favorably impressed that this place is still going as strong as it is. As so often happens on the net, real life caused me to drift away from this place, and I've gone YEARS without logging on. But you never forget your roots, and this is the group of people that were with me when I adopted...
