Re: Index

Greetings to the Society,
I finally added QtR21 (sry it comes so late, had other things to do and to think about).

Re: Just For Fun: Non-Hostile Darklord Encounters

I'm just writing a short story for the next QtR, including a pocket domain (or whatever they call it these days). The Darklord won't really attack the players (he's a kind of "tragical darklord", if that is possible). The story is - for the moment - titled "The Eternal Smith". I ...

Happy Birthday, Ron!

(and sorry, I can't sing - if you would hear me sing, it would get a really spooky night...)

Re: The Red Wolf. Thoughts?

Hello everyone! Way back when I was 18 I wrote the BoS article The Red Wolf. Now I'm in the planning phases of a new Ravenloft game and it looks like one of the Player Characters is going to want to become a Knight of the Shadows. I'm thrilled at the chance to get to use one of my favorite NPCs, bu...

Re: [Servants of Darkness]: The lady is dead

I don't think the Lady of the Mists would work (I don't read Dragon, so I'm going on the description) for Tepest. The Lady of the Lake is based on an entry in the Kargatane's Book of Shadows by Ryan Naylor and was made canon in Gaz. V. She was made to be in Tepest as the ruler of a pocket domain fr...

Re: [Servants of Darkness]: The lady is dead

There was – a long, long time ago – an adventure in Dungeon Magazin called ominously "Lady of the Mists". Maybe she could – with her pretty pet tiger – made the new DL (although she dies in that adventure, but since when would the DPs care about that?)

Re: Quoth the Raven #21 - Submissions Open

A question to the QtR: it was - in previous Ravenloft Fanzines, and, iirc, even in earlier QtRs - possible to publish short stories. Since I have - to my shame - no idea for a monster, or an adventure, or other stuff, but I do have an idea for such a short story - appropriate for Ravenloft and the g...

Re: Quoth the Raven and themes.

That was not really what I was aiming at, but well... There also could be twisted, perverted and dark peronalities turned to noble... and then, of course, since we’re in Ravenloft, get even more twisted &c Or not. I just thought of having “emotions” as a general theme. But I like your ideas – le...

Re: Quoth the Raven and themes.

In addition, this thread was intended to discuss possible themes for this year's Quoth the Raven. We've gotten a little off topic. If we'd like to talk about morality, compassion, ethics, and their relation to in-game morality or real world issues, then I think it would be best (and less confusing)...

Re: Quoth the Raven and themes.

Hmm, not that I want to, well, critisize or something, but why do I see everything on the page - as long as I'm not logged in - in pink?
Has it something to do with the nest QtR? I'd understand it if it were love. Or comedy.
At least, it would fit in both cases.

Re: Quoth the Raven and themes.

You JUST made me think to submit an article on how to put ancient dead in D&D next. And liches of course, since the D&D next lich is pathetically weak. I’m sorry, this is totally off-topic and will get me flamed to no end... but when, exactly, did we forget how to count? Let’s see: D&D1...

Re: Quoth the Raven and themes.

It's a simple one, but I'd like to suggest 'love' as a theme. While I'm sure other people would go a different direction with it, I always love exploring the idea of villains in love. (If you want something more specific, then 'Match Made in Hell' is my secondary suggestion.) So many problems, plot...

Re: Quoth the Raven and themes.

I don't think a bunch of 2nd edition stats and monsters are going to go over well. Not true! QTR accepts all editions! We would welcome anything you have, and as you can see, there is no shortage of volunteers willing to help with conversions. So bring on the NWPs and saves vs death magic, and dual...

Re: Personal Canon

IMC, I banished from my campaign these three spells: fly, continual flame and fireball, as being too much on the fantasy side. Well, I can understand this, but for a creativve DM, there are always ways around. The Fly spell? Some kind of anti-magic field. It isn't very healthy to fall from heights....
