Re: Stats for the Stat-less? Items, Monsters, DLs and more from Novels and other places

There's a brief 2E entry for Baroness Ilsabet and Kislova in the Kargatane's Book of Souls. The Mistipedia lists several different takes on Malbus and Abd-al-Mamat of Al Kathos.

Re: Speculation on who uses the Petrification Virus as a wepon

If you wanted to tie it to somebody existing in canon, Malus would be one of the most logical choices. I could also see Ivan Dilisnya or Ivana Boristi creating such gardens, if you wanted somebody in the Core. Going to the source, I can't recall if Phagius' children are still around, but one of them...

Re: Jung: land of the inner voice(horror of the mind)

How does the land respond to differing images people might have of the same person, object, or location?

How much does the emperor know or suspect of his conditions?

Re: Grim justice (or a horror moral)

There's a few existing examples in Ravenloft lore: -Nikolai Melentha (from Children of the Night: Ghosts )- the wrathful ghost of a murdered youth, that lashes out against those he thinks wrongs children. However, he often does without thinking of the consequences. -The Whispering Beast and Bloody C...

Re: Doppelganger vs. Lycanthropy

Okay, so I guess my question is, what makes a doppelganger immune to lycanthropy? I browsed the Dopp netbook and the Zherisia gaz and haven't seen an explanation. In game rules, doppelgangers are Monstrous Humanoids or Monstrosities, depending upon your ruleset. 3e does not give us much description...

Re: Doppelganger vs. Lycanthropy

By the rules, no. The feat description for spiritual purgative says the secondary subject must be "one capable of being afflicted by the curse". However, the Dark Powers could always make an exception for special circumstances, as always. Alternatively, perhaps the situation becomes one li...

Re: Ways of Getting Around Canon...

An interesting variant on the Darkonian claiming thing might be to require the foreigner to achieve some kind of blending into Darkonian society, which could be one or a combination of being accepted into the community and/or coming to see one's self as part of the community.

Re: Ways of Getting Around Canon...

Would it possible for the foreigner to Darkon to have been born in Darkon but raised elsewhere, thereby being immune to Darkon's memory wipes but still be for all other intents and purposes be a foreigner?

Re: Net canon settlements

Van Richten's Encyclopedia of Darklords and Domains vol 2 added Freehome to Souragne (pop 50 or less, p193). That work also has population and other stats for a lot of canon domains that never received them, including Bakumora (with Kayebo Village), Darani, Estrangia, Grafemotte (w/ the Village of G...

Re: Anyone ever heard of an undead fiend?

An alternative way to have a more Ravenloft specific undead fiend origin might be to have it be the result of a failed power ritual that killed the fiend, as these effectively bind fiends to the demiplane. Another interesting variant is if the fiend had blood rituals binding mortals to it, but the d...

Re: Archibald Everlast's opinion on the Darklords

Aside from some insights on several of the darklord's origin stories, Everlast's opinions on the darklords all seem more or less the same: a sense of detached pity, but he also displays some hopefulness at their eventual redemption by his "atta-boy" encouragement to adventurers to lead the...

Re: Those meddling kids

Huh, well I'd think in general that the the DPs in general would ignore most of the banal, small-time con men and hoaxers the likes of which the teen investigators seem to go after. At minimum, I think you'd need them to be more dangerous, even murderous villains like the Spook, Dr. Hugo Strange, or...
