Re: Origins of the Nightmare Court

it's nice to see, Ryan, that someone had at least partially the same idea as me. and here I thought had come up with an original idea...

Re: Tail, Wing, Fang and Claw

Given the rather long life of this thread and the pre-harbormaster nature of its discussions, I'm somewhat surprised that there was a Ravenloft dragon left completely unmentioned. That would be Gaymede (I believe that's right, since I altered his name)- the "Dragon of Bones" from the old A...

Re: Origins of the Nightmare Court

That's certainly an intriguing concept and one that had never occurred to me. In this case, however, what reason do you see for the Dark Powers apparently making the Nightmare Man's "chosen companions" his co-darklords?

Origins of the Nightmare Court

A matter of simple curiosity: having always been a bit of a fan of the Nightmare Lands/Court and having also come up with a background for the Court's members awhile ago, I've recently begun to wonder about others' ideas on the subject. So, has anyone else here ever come up with info of their own on...

Re: Random - Darklord lookalike

Partly because I've always had tons of characters in my Ravenloft campaigns and had at least one player with a slightly shoddy memory, I've got literally hundreds of these. Just to cover the ones already mentioned: Frank Langella (my favorite Dracula ever, even if the film itself was a bit lacking) ...

Re: Top 5 Darklords

Mine are pretty much: 5. Lord Soth: Not only am I a huge fan of the "Black Rose" books and the first two DL trilogies, but I'm also rather fond of death knights in general. I also love his back story, his (rather subjective) sense of honor, and his selfish/ stubborn/ arrogant refusal to ad...

Re: Top 5 worthless domains

Incidentally- sorry about the weird run-on format of my post. I'm posting from a new phone, and can't seem to figure out how to create breaks/paragraphs for some reason.

Re: Top 5 worthless domains

First off, my two cents' worth on the "Gothic debate"- however misguided, subjective, or off-topic my opinion may be. To me, the Gothic tale- for want of a better term- has always been about certain concepts more than setting- for example, sin, punishment, and the past being/becoming as im...

Re: Gundar and Feast of Goblyns

I actually have Gundar alive and well IMC, following the events of "Missing Bones". Having regained his senses, he and his son Balthazar Dolevina- from the USS Vallaki Gaz.- are hanging around Castle Hunadora and serving as lieutenants of Hunadora's new "lord" and leading his ban...

Mordentish Hauntings

While I'm well aware that the Mordent Gaz. 3 chapter was...um...rather unpopular among many- and it does have its flaws- I found it to be fascinating and atmospheric, and have drawn a wealth of inspiration from it. The thing is, I'm curious as to whether anyone else here ever put any of the new mate...

Re: The World of Ravenloft

While the other replies have already covered things pretty well, I'll throw in my two cents as well. Over time, I've changed many of the islands and clusters from being totally Mistbound to theoretically existing in, and being reachable by, the seas- just with navigation being a bit...uncertain. Thi...

Re: Ghostsight feat?

Despite rules statements to the contrary, I almost always interpret Ghostsight as including hearing as well. That said, I once DMd a ghostwatcher PC (back when it was a 2e kit), who also had a situation something like the Haunted feat. For reasons too complex to go into here, he was followed around ...

Re: Order of the guardians in Kartakass?

Silly me- the Mother Fury idea didn't even occur to me, maybe because I was never exactly thrilled with her in the first place. Instead, I just dropped in a Guardian monastery, complete with its own artifact.

Re: Karls Wagner Kane.

I happen to be in the process of reading Wagner's posthumously-published "Exorcisms and Ecstasies, which features- among other things- an entire section of Kane stories. I've always rather liked the character, and -upon further consideration- I think he might actually fit better into Ravenloft ...

Re: Really scary ghosts

While they aren't. exactly RPG products, I might recommend checking out the films "Insidious", " House on Haunted Hill"( yes, THAT one), "13 Ghosts" ( the DVD ghost backgrounds, anyway), and possibly "Haunted". Also, Robert Bloch's "The Hungry House"...
