Re: Spain in Ravenloft..?

Somewhere at home, I still have my notes for the Holy Empire cluster. To try to summarize, it was a huge cluster, including a sea- a la Scattered Lotus- far distant from the core, consisting mainly of netbook domains such as Mictlan, Nathan's (I think) domains, etc. The "seat of power" I c...

Re: Monstrous Arcana Series

I agree 100%, which is why I've always alternated between Ravenloft and campaigns for my homebrew setting, etc. If high fantasy- maybe with a touch of "science fiction"- is what one is looking for, said illithid trilogy is probably among the 10 or 20 best adventures to come out of the 90s-...

Re: Blaustein!

Sadly, there isn't a great deal of light to be shed, but the reference is to a Chris Nichols entry in the Book of Sacrifices article "Myths of the Mists". Blausteins are basically incredibly rare and valuable flawless blue gems that are also rumored to be cursed. Those who own them are sai...

Re: Domain of this Hot Summer (?!) - Kalidnay

For me, Kalidnay has always had the same problem as Dark Sun in general. I find DS to be a unique and fascinating setting packed with flavor, but, for the life of me, can't figure out exactly what to do with it. That said, I'll try to give it a shot. The first idea, of course, would be involving the...

Re: Blaustein!

My apologies for resurrecting such an ancient thread, but I find Blaustein rather intriguing, and figured I'd throw in my two cents' worth. First of all, has anyone here ever seen Catherine Breillat's film version of Bluebeard? While I'm not sure how well it fits with the Darklords version, it prese...

Re: Maridrar

Oh, ok. Having no real love at all for the 4E mechanics- not to mention the revamping of...well, pretty much everything- I've been waaay out of the loop, and just assumed that was the source of those domains.

Re: Monstrous Arcana Series

I find the Illithiad to be an outstanding product from one of my all-time favorite D&D designers- and an excellent resource if you plan to make much use of illithids or run an adventure in Bluetspur itself. On the other hand, the adventure trilogy that accompanied it -while extremely cool- may b...

Ok, that one- I didn't realize it had a name. It seemed almost like...it had just appeared out of thin air. Thanks for the info.

L'Morai

Some years ago, I had what I thought was a great idea for detailing this domain and its various Puppet Masters. Unfortunately, I failed to write it down, now can't remember 99% of it, and have never seen it mentioned anywhere, other than Carnival of Fear and Carnival. So, I'm curious- has anyone her...

I just took my first real look at the Mistipedia, and this caught my attention. Every other domain listed that I've never heard of appears to be from the new Shadowfell boxed set- or, in one case from Black Crusade-but this one has no sources or details listed. Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Re: House of Lament

Come to think of it, the crying woman schtick may not be effective. I fear that, between dopplegangers, red widows, vixens, and my own Leylit, my party may have become a bit suspicious and cynical about "damsels in distress".

Re: My second campaign

With my internet access mostly being restricted to my phone for the moment being, I can't seem to properly access the campaign journals, but reading this thread really makes me want to check this one out. I, too absolutely love the "warn Tavelia about vampires" angle. Also, I remember the ...

Re: Personal Canon

I really have way too much "personal canon" to count, but -aside from geographical stuff already mentioned in another thread- here are some examples. 1. Specifically defined- though not to my players, of course- the nature of Ravenloft , the DPs, and the ToUD, and tied Gwydion and the GC t...

Re: Domain of the ??? - the Sea of Sorrows

On the earlier subjects of lighthouses and wreckers... Way back in an ancient issue of Dungeon- either #10 or #11- there's a short lighthouse-related adventure I don't think I've ever seen on any lists called Light of Lost Souls that I think fits Ravenloft perfectly. Also, I've always thought that a...

Re: The Fiendish Races and Ravenloft

Oh, correction. I did run CoD with its nalfeshnee- Malistroi, I think- but I rather disliked him and his reality-warping, and shamelessly killed both him and Yagno by the end of the adventure. I also once wrote up an adventure inspired by Sleepy Hollow that used a hezrou and its cult as a red herrin...
