Re: Abber Shaman vs Hags
I'd say yes. I imagine none of the Dementlieuese NPCs will readily believe claims of the 'crazy savage' that the sweet old lady, their neighbor, is a horrible monster. Funny thing, the group was close to being run in by the gendarme for harassing the old woman, but some quick thinking, successful C...

Re: Abber Shaman vs Hags
Thanks for the feedback. I ruled that Burns the River (the shaman) did indeed see the hag as she truly was, and gave the player a card describing her so that only he would react. He wisely kept it to himself and advised his confused friends to leave immediately so he could explain what he observed a...

Abber Shaman vs Hags
Hey folks, just a quick question. In my campaign one of the PCs is an abber shaman. The current villain is an ancient sea hag planning one last hurrah in the Jewel Box lakes of Dementlieu. The big question is, in your opinions, should the abber shaman's ability to see through illusions be able to pi...

Re: Twenty six years later
3. As this campaign is the realization of my long-running desire to run a Carnival game, I need to deal with the Rasulid issue. There's no way Rasulid could have survived for another two decades, and his character seemed unlikely to have sought the redemption that would have been his salvation. Do ...

Re: Tsien Chiang redeemed?
I've toyed with the idea of expanding the domain with a few small hamlets, and placing Tsien's palace and grounds at the center of an all but abandoned city with the four shrines arranged at the compass points of the city. One thing in particular I thought of implementing is making the sparse popula...

Re: Movies that have that Ravenloft feel
Just wanted to throw out a quick mention for Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil. It can be currently found on Netflix, and has a good dark fairy tale quality that matches the feel of the Ravenloft setting.

Re: Punisher in Ravenloft
Punisher isn't an atheist. He knows for a fact that Heaven and angels exist from that time he acted as an angelic enforcer. Yeah, that happened. Real fans of the Punisher deny that it ever happened ;) Anyway, that's his Earth-616 version, and it's really hard being an atheist in a world where gods ...

I'd see him as a LE Avenger, with a vengeful focus against organized criminals. I might set such a character in Dementlieu, Borca, or Nova Vaasa.

Re: Movies that have that Ravenloft feel
Season of the Witch with Nicholas Cage actually felt a lot like a Ravenloft adventure. If you haven't seen the new Hammer film Wakewood, it can serve as an example of resurrection magic gone wrong. The film Stakeland might give you some inspiration for a quest or two. Despite the title making the fi...

Re: Penny Dreadful
Watched the pilot on Hulu the other day. It definitely piqued my interest. Though I wasn't happy with the last few minutes, I'm sure I'll be keeping an eye out for future episodes.

Re: Movies that have that Ravenloft feel
Ginger Snaps Back, the third film of the trilogy, is a period piece set in the old Canadian wilderness, and has an excellent feel for Verberek. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead is a great inspiration for Scaena. While a terrible film, the zombie flick Oasis of the Dead screamed sinkhole of evil...

Re: Who ARE the Dark Lords?
It helps to think of the obedient in terms of the Manchurian Candidate. Just a few key words or phrases and they go from free willed masters of their own fate to emotionless servants who seek only to fulfill their Dominic's commands.

A Little Help?
Hey everybody. It's been a while. I've recently found a group of guys that I'm running a campaign for and I'm looking for a book that I don't have anymore. I'm just looking to get a digital copy of it (I thought it's easier and cheaper than trying to get a copy off Ebay, though I may end up doing th...

I like the concept of the sword myself too. Did you consider that it could simply grant the feats Cat's Eyes (from the Valachan Gaz) and Nine Lives (from... VRA?). Slap on minor intelligence and a few spell-likes and you're done. Or maybe it could make the wearer into a werepanther (Valachan Gaz) H...
