Re: Make sport not war....

Huh. I've never done it on an inter-domain level. But in a domain I made the political elections of a city were contested by maiming teams. Teams of retainers for the different houses sporting maiming rods who fought it out amongst themselves in the street cheered on by the populace. Of course many ...

Re: Why no female vampire DLs?

Well. I imagine her like a New Age-ish character in flowing robes and sandals with lots of bangles and necklaces and unruly hair. She still looks down upon men and try hard to discern who the worst misogynist is for her monthly meal. ( A role a PC or maybe more fairly a companion of a PC could easil...

Re: Kargat numbers

I'm retconning hard on Darkon.

If Il Aluk has 25.000 and normal medieval urban to rural ratios were 1:9 the countryside around Il Aluk must hold 225.000 alone.

With Karg and the other cities Darkon would be a land of at least 1 million.

Then, even thousands of Kargat would be plausible

Re: Why no female vampire DLs?

I was always fascinated by the motivations of the Queen of the Damned and have thought of modelling a female vampire lord on her. My idea was for a woman growing up in a heavily misogynist society succumbing to the assault of a male but not so bright vampire. She tricks him into a trap and destroys ...

Re: Historical Questions

That sounds a bit too few for a nation of 15-20 million in France?

Would there then be a million knights?

In 1789 nobles constituted barely 0,5% of the population.

Or am I mucking up the definition of knight here?

Re: Scholar of Decay makes me hate Legacy of Blood...

Pre-Industrial Revolution most cities actually had unsustainable populations due to horrid sanitary conditions, poor nutrition and massive fires and plagues. The cities would've died out without the flood of landless hailing from peasant families churning out 8-10 kids per couple. So tons of murders...

Medieval murder rates could be pretty harrowing

The tenfold more populous hinterland of cities would supply an endless parade of victims.

Re: Just For Fun: Non-Hostile Darklord Encounters

I'm planning on using Azalin in this manner soon. A powerful tome of arcane lore was stolen right under the noses of the PC's. ( Whom themselves were shadowing the transport and looking for an oppourtunity to nab it ) Azalin will show up at the University in Sidnar where they are studying demanding ...

This book and partially the film too encapsulates such a character, albeit in serial killer form.

Re: One Shot Vampire Session?

Have them roll up new normal characters. Then have them head out to do some heroic deed and get violently savaged by wolves, vampires in wolf form. Then have them find shelter in an abandoned inn, farmstead, monastary, watchtower, church, you name it. Have the vampires charm and turn one of them and...

Re: Lawful and Chaotic Acts Defined

We do some marathon sessions once a year with my old group since we live in separate cities. Sometimes players have little understanding of the work involved with being a DM What I do is making tons of different little story hooks which can even inspire you to develop them more if the players fall f...

Re: Lawful and Chaotic Acts Defined

As ethics are a quite relative subject in real life I enforce a less realistic version of it in my sessions. Lawful just means following a guiding set of principles even when it is to your disadvantage. Whether it's a good, neutral or evil set of morals doesn't matter. Whether it suits society's pre...
