Re: Little Fears

I'd never heard of this game, but can I just give you the hugest thank you for introducing me to a system I could convince someone else to run for a change? :D

Re: Mordent minutia

In the scenario I'm putting together for my group, wreckers murder the lighthouse keepers of one of the lighthouses marking the entry into Arden bay, and dismantle the beacon to set it up elsewhere. The island seemed like a good candidate for them to reassemble the beacon--close enough to Mordentshi...

Mordent minutia

The Gryphon Hill maps show an island off the coast of Mordent, south of Arden Bay. Is there anything in canon about that island? If not, has anyone used it for anything interesting?

Re: Human Centipede

Okay, I'll admit I didn't really watch this movie so much as listen to it while someone else was watching and I was doing something else, and I liked his accent.

Re: Movies that have that Ravenloft feel

Deathwatch --A small group of British soldiers get lost in a thick fog and find themselves in an enemy trench that's haunted by some unknown force. I've always thought the trench would make a great pocket domain. It already comes complete with border closure effect (the barbed wire) and possibly a ...

Re: Human Centipede

I read an article that was a top ten of "most disturbing movies ever". They listed The Human Centipede , because the most disturbing thing about it was that someone wrote it, pitched it, got it funded, and was able to convince a group of actors to play it out, and actually got theaters to ...

Re: Witches!

I used to have a collection of stories called "The Silver Bullet and Other American Stories". Probably worth having a look at for ideas. One element that stood out to me in the folklore in that book was that the witches seemed inherently spiteful. The picture I've developed of those kind o...

Watching The Midnight Meat Train, I couldn't help but think it would make a pretty neat modern domain, possibly a floating one like Scaena, since the train could show up in the subway of any city.

Hmm. Ancient, insanely powerful and unstoppable evil force sleeping at the bottom of the ocean... The idea could have legs. Or tentacles.

This thread sparked off a bit of inspiration. Right now I'm writing up a campaign ripping off the use of the GC adventures as flashbacks, and combining them with To Inherit Eternity from DT&DL, where Eternity provides the reason and frame story for why the PCs are in the past. Keep in mind, I ha...

* The party comes across a lone toddler wandering on the road. The child is wailing and crying, and is clutching something tightly to it's chest. Once the PCs get close enough, they find it to be the dismembered hand of an adult woman. * As the PCs pass through a very tiny settlement (just a cluster...

I'd like to extend a similar offer. I lurk more than I'd like, but I love the netbooks, and I'd really enjoy contributing to them. Here are some different examples of what I've done: http://hazgarn.deviantart.com/art/Desdemona-Black-and-White-133889587 http://hazgarn.deviantart.com/art/Couple-101451...

I got into horror in middle school (think it started with Anne Rice). I didn't get into roleplaying until after high school, but I did have a friend who played, and he mentioned Ravenloft once and the name stuck in my head because I remembered seeing some of the novels pop up in the used bookstore I...

* The party comes across a loose horse on the road. It is frantic, near-panicked. It might still wear the damaged remains of a saddle, likely to have saved its life since under the torn leather it bears deep wounds in its side that may have come from claws. It's lost rider probably is not so lucky. ...

On the topic of dragons in Ravenloft, I thought I'd share a couple of legends that might fit the theme: In many cases, this Lithuanian creature is described as having the appearance of a rooster while indoors and the appearance of a dragon outdoors. An Aitvaras will lodge itself in a house and will ...
