Looking for a Van Richten's image

Hello all, I haven't played in Ravenloft for years, but I'll be playing in a Secret of the Seventh Sea game set in the Eisen Black Forest (thus, very Ravenlofty) and for my new character, I wanted to inspire myself from an image in the Van Richten's monster hunter compendium 2 (which I sold away yea...

Black Death

Just came back from the Fantasia festival in Montréal and I recommand that you see Black Death (starring Sean Bean) if you can (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Death_(film)). The action is on Earth but could easily be in any medieval Ravenloft domain. The mood is terrific and... SPOILER The desce...

I think the way to go is to make him a fey bogeyman like the ones we see in Dark Tales because it's mostly to children that he's supposed to appear. I think he should be in a duo too. Most cultures don't have a single man coming for Chrismas like in America but actually two: St-Nicolas and his helpe...

take a gander. Charney, would you have bought some Mystara, Dragonlance, or Birthright products, too? I seem to recall that not every setting came out with a product every month... Actually, I had bought the Mystara Monstrous Compendium because I really loved the monsters within. I did want to look...

Well in my case yes. It's a matter of good books. For instance: I bought what I thought would be the best RL products and also Planescape products. If Planescape didn't appeal to me, I would NOT have bought the bad RL products. I would have bought something else not necessarily D&D related. I do...

I don't think they should be seen as adventures per se (except Ashington Manor which is a good adventure for the number of pages implied). They were supposed to be big adventure hooks or big backgrounds for monsters or NPCs. Comparing them to full fledge adventures à la 2nd Ed is unfair just if you ...

I only recently checked it and here's my opinion. The first tale, I haven't read it yet because of bad reviews from others. I must admit that the number of characters (in the appendix) also scares me! Ashington manor is really well done. It's the best one of the whole. It's really an adventure and I...

BTW, am I the only one seeing her as an evil parallel to Jean d'Arc? She did speak with her God, but He doesn't answer anymore...
I believe that was the original inspiration for Elena.

A good parallel to this not so good Knightly order of Eleni is a famous companion that Jeanne d'Arc (Eleni's inspiration) had: Gilles de Ray or Bluebeard (not the Darklord) as he would be known in subsequent tales.

PS: this is a Gaz I'm looking forward to. Go Frat go (Yes even Dru).

I must agree that her darklordship is more or less earned (she still let her mother die at the claws of Alfred Timothy...) but her curse is still very nice and makes her worth keeping as a Darklord.
