Re: How do you handle spell component in your campaign?

It depends on the DM and the players. From a positive perspective, tracking spell components can really add a level of detail that greatly enhance the feeling of immersion for you and your players. It also opens the door to fun things like Alchemy and Herbalism. From the negative perspective, you'll...

Re: Some newb questions! Please help for this new Dm!

Hi! Welcome to the forums! 1) One way to describe the mists, would be to think of the Core like Canada, for example. The individual domains of the core would be similar to individual provinces in Canada (or States in the US). The mists would not surround each province (domain), because the provinces...

Re: The Van Richten Guides as in-universe documents

I've always wanted to do it, but the books contain far too many mechanics and DM secrets. In my gaming groups, the best way I've found to frighten the players or maintain a sense of dread or foreboding is via the notion that "people will always fear the unknown" Most of the people I game w...

Re: Drawing a Map

Hi gang, I've always enjoyed everyone's work on the maps you design and post here. I've tried teaching myself to make maps of my own, but I'm afraid I'm useless in that regard without a walkthrough or mentor of some kind. That said, I have a hand-drawn map that I've always wanted to turn into someth...

Re: It's been a year since the Wheel of Time series ended...

One of the greatest series I've ever read. I agree that it bogs down at around Book 9/book10 because the author feel into a rabbit hole of developing too many minor plot threads, but when Sanderson took over the writing, he did an absolutely brilliant job of getting everything back on track and wrap...

Re: Tarokka Character Creation

Seems like it would be fun for generating NPC's, but randomly generating a PC (regardless of method) is anathema to me.

Re: Fields of Silence

Sylvain studies the butler, offering the man a polite nod of greeting. He smiles after Isabella as she races off somewhere in the house to change. Arching a brow, Sylvain waits for the introduction before proceeding into the dining hall. He offers Dominic a gracious formal bow, and accepts one of th...

Re: Fields of Silence

Sylvain smiles charmingly to the young lady and offers a gentlemanly bow as well. " Sylvain de Montplaisir, at your service Mademoiselle ." He seems thoroughly surprised and impressed at Drinn's horse, and arches an eyebrow at hearing the man's family name, but makes no comment. He nods ap...

Re: Fields of Silence

Shocked at the show of healing power, Sylvain regards the freckled young lady in a new light before turning back to Mykhael and nodding as he listens and makes mental notes. He sheathes his rapier and, considering the others' stated opinions on the value of trading freedom for the information, he no...

Re: Fields of Silence

Sylvain mulls the idea of letting them go in exchange for information, but it becomes moot once the brother starts flapping his gums. A frown slowly spreads across his face the more he listens. Looking to the young lady, he softens his expression. " You are right, of course, my dear. Could you ...

Re: Fields of Silence

Sylvain relaxes as the fools finally come to their senses. Leaning back, he holsters his pistol but keeps his rapier held toward Mikhael and approaches the thug. Pulling out a length of fishing line, he ties the man's hands behind his back. " Alors, perhaps a gentle stroll and a few questions b...
