Re: Tarokka Points

This is pretty cool. I really like it, and I will be watching this thread for further development. I've been brainstorming a house-rule Ravenloft system that used only the Tarokka deck. In some ways, it would resemble what you've done here, except that all actions in the game would be resolved by pl...

Re: Domain of this Hot Summer (?!) - Kalidnay

The thing that always interested me about Dark Sun was the elemental magic, not the psionics and weird monsters. Seems to me there was/is a great deal of potential in Kalidnay to exploit the concept of dread elementals, and even invent new (dread) elemental-based classes, spells and divine magic dom...

As Cranium rats are the creations of the illithid god Ilsensine, maybe they hail from BLuetspur ? Here are some links to planewalker on them: http://www.planewalker.com/encyclopedia/cranium-rat http://www.planewalker.com/040101/cranium-rat-0 (stats) http://www.planewalker.com/040101/cranium-rat (st...

As promised, here's my E6 take on Strahd. I'm pretty sure it all balances out to CR12, but feel free to check my math; I've been focusing on school far more than gaming lately. Count Strahd Von Zarovich, Darklord of Barovia Male Human Ancient Vampire Ftr 1/Nec 5: CR 12; Size M undead (6 ft. 1 in. ta...

Hey, when did this become a spitting contest? If you don't like the system, no one's saying you have to. If you do like the system, no one's saying you shouldn't. It's all about tastes. Anyway, my E6 Strahd is in the works, and it looks like he'll be about CR12 at most. I'm making use of the I...

I don't think I'm losing any part of the game. Let me approach this a different way. I'm vegan which means I don't eat meat or dairy. People usually think I'm giving up meat. But I don't want to eat the meat so I'm not giving it up. Instead I get to eat more of the things that I really do want to e...

Re: skills and skill points. This essay makes a really good argument that most of the "epic" people you can think of -- either real or fictional -- are really no more than 5th level in terms of their D&D skill ranks. Though not directly related to E6, it should be required reading for ...

Yeah, I definitely could see this working, as a DM. I'm not sure how thrilled players would be with it, though. It depends on the players, I suppose. I read the e6 rules and bounced them off of one of my players who, like me, is a veteran of multiple versions of D&D. He instantly liked the idea...

Hm.... At first blush, I really like this. It seems like a great substitute for the Everyman Campaign idea in the RDMG. I wonder how well it would work by grafting a "phantom" everyman class level or two onto the beginning, starting each PC in an everyman class and then progressing them in...

I've lost my Tarokka Deck! :(

I never had the Arthaus one, but that was OK cuz I had the original. But now, I've lost that one, too! Anyone know where I can get a used deck? It doesn't have to be the fancy Arthaus one, either. Just one of the ones from the original boxed sets would be nice. PM if you have one you're willing to p...

I recently picked up the rules for Castle Falkenstein, and I think they'd do great. You don't use dice, but two sets of normal playing cards: one for magic, and one for everything else. There are even alternate rules for using Tarot decks instead of normal cards, and with some modification, that mea...

And the winna(s).... The main winner is Leyshon Campbell aka DeepShadow . Mostly for the second of his three adventure hooks. But we'd also like to send a shout-out to Bob Mason aka ???? (a messageboard username wasn't given). While his submission as a whole didn't win, one of his ideas begged for ...

There's also a Dark Ages Cthulhu setting that would be highly useful for Ravenloft's lesser-advanced domains.

I'd considered CoC as a rules set, but as I'm not familiar with it at all (I've never even *seen* one of the books, much less leafed through one), I put that on the back burner a bit. I don't even know what skill system they use... CoC (the non-d20 version) uses a basic percentile system for skills...
