Re: Ravenloft Witch and Warlock class problems

I respectfully disagree on the following points: - Someone identifying as a Hala Witch doesn't need the Prestige. 1 level of druid to have some magic seems fine to me. - I prefer the "We do both!" version of Hala Witches. - Level 7 required for Prestige classes is nothing special. Usually ...

Re: Ravenloft Witch and Warlock class problems

Back then, I didn't see it as a problem at all. Even before this Prestige class, we had other Cleric/Wizard hybrid prestige classes. The way it was handled is not that you are 3rd level cleric and then 3 levels of sorcerer. It was you start as a 1st lvl cleric, then get a level of wizard, then 2nd l...

Re: The kingdom of the kobolds (dragon darklord idea)

Meanwhile, my non Ravenloft game is in an area where: 150 or so years ago, the Consort of Tiamat (her boyfriend, a boosted White) showed up. The numbers of Metallic dragons have been raising for years prior, blessed by Tiamat. The Consort of Tiamat signaled the call and dragon activity exploded. Dra...

Re: The primary masquerade problem of a high-society vampire

Keep in mind that my suggestion has a bunch of people for the rich and the nobles to feel important, and a lot of the production part taken over by those "strange ships" Thus, while you would expect 80% or so of the population to work in food production, Now you have about 40,000 people in...

Re: The primary masquerade problem of a high-society vampire

Then I would suggest a domain that has a large city, of 50,000 people, supported by ships of unexplained nature that arrive from the mists with gear, food and slaves etc. with like a population in the rest of the domain of another 50,000 people, spread in a few towns of 2000-3000 people and 100+ vil...

Re: The primary masquerade problem of a high-society vampire

In 3.5 Libris Mortis you had the Night Oil who granted you protection from sunlight. Not every vampire would have access to that and to be honest, in a Gothic Horror setting, where curses are strong and evil has consequences while good is strong but not obvious (i.e. the sun burns you and you shoul...

That is quite probably a spambot. Someone's first post while logged is in cyrilic asking help to change passwords? Yeah, I would hope you don't help that spambot to change passwords cause he may hijack our PWs.

Re: The primary masquerade problem of a high-society vampire

Mimic Mortal Necromancy, Sorcerer/Wizard Spell level 4 can only be cast by a vampire This spell is one created by Strahd Von Zarovich to better disguise himself amongst the living. Yes, for a spellcasting vampire with access to that spell and while it helps, it doesn't overcome the weaknesses, Meph...

Re: The primary masquerade problem of a high-society vampire

I think that while it makes a lot of sense for liches to squirrel themselves away in a distant dungeon, a vampire with sufficient wealth is much better off integrating himself into high society, especially given his dietary needs. I strongly disagree and the reason is that a vampire cannot pass off...

Re: The primary masquerade problem of a high-society vampire

If by "socialite", you mean a perpetually partying rake, as another poster pointed out that's exactly the role Vladimir has adopted in Borca. I agree that particular role would not work for vampires because of their inability to drink alcohol. Without doubt there are vampires who insert t...

Re: The primary masquerade problem of a high-society vampire

There is another option, which could bring food to the vampire: posing as a generally debauched rake. The kind of handsome party animal who never wakes up before evening and parties the whole night through. He's so scandalous, but his massive charm makes him seem exciting. He's every rich gambler's...
