According to Van Richten, a zeitgeber is any external stimuli that triggers a behavior in a living creature, for example how the onset of winter triggers hibernation in small mammals. A dread golem may have its own unique zeitgeber, which could evoke any number of inboluntary reactions or behaviors in the dread golem for a short time. Most commonly, this might be a state of vulnerability or shutting down.[1][2] Zeitgeber stimuli can be any number of things, but fire could cause a dread golem with an aversion to fire to lurch back and cease advancement toward the source of the fire, and a style of music or even particular song might force a dread golem to dance. A zeitgeber often inflicts a dread golem's desires and inflicts an ironic mockery on the dread golem when it tries to achieve treasured goals.[3][4]
