Talk:Rose (Paladin)
Does getting transformed into a cow constitute being a Cursed NPC? I am thinking not as the transformation can be undone with the appropriate magic. Not unrelated, what magic in 3.5ed could turn one into a cow on a permanent basis? A modified Baleful Polymorph with an additional level or two that permits a wider choice in the resulting inoffensive creature?
I think that yes, it would qualify. Especially since the only way I can find in the SRD for to happen is via a cursed magic item: (on a d%) "96 Character is polymorphed into a specific creature (5% chance [01–05 on d%] each day)." -- Gonzoron 02:56, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
It was the handiwork of Azalin, in fact he turned out a cow from a paladin, a leech from a crocked tax collector, and one more that escapes me just now. It doesn't spell out how however, aside from it occuring in his Room of Alternation where alteration magic is enhanced. So at least conceivably it was done directly with enhanced magic. Crafting custom cursed items is a lot of work. Cure 03:05, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I think Wish would surely do it, and probably even limited wish. IIRC, Azalin has access to both. -- Gonzoron 16:48, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
You would think that Azalin has better things to burn XP on that using limited wish to make cows and leeches. But there is no accounting of undead arcane power I suppose. So if it is limited wish, are they cursed?Cure 19:29, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Considering that he has an XP cap and can never go up in levels, XP is probably not a big deal for him. And Limited Wish is only 300XP. A character of his level can make that back easier than swatting a fly. That's of course, all metagaming. In-character, if Azalin's pissed enough to turn people into livestock, he's probably not going to care about a little "life energy fatigue". But anyway, I say yes, they are cursed. In fact, I think one of the campaign settings specifically mentions permanent spell effects like polymorph as the most minor form of a curse. -- Gonzoron 19:48, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
