Ste. Ronges is a small city located within Richemulot. Unlike other Richemuloise cities, Ste. Ronges is protected by walls, though they do not protect the city from internal problems, of which there are many. Ste. Ronges is close enough within the sphere of influence of Pont-a-Museau to part of its seething corruption. At the same time, Ste. Ronges is far enough removed that it lacks the sophistication and culture of Pont-a-Museau. Ste. Ronges is a haven for crime, though mostly of the disorganized kind. Small-time and short-term operations ran by competing street gangs are the normal here, though the wagging of tongues continually frighten the Rongese with tales of a much greater organized slave ring. Crafts and fishing make up the majority of the legitimate Rongeise economy.[1]
Ste. Ronges is governed by burgomeister Klaus Nellak.[2]
Rongeise Steel
The swordsmiths of Ste. Ronges are particularly devout in their dedication to the Church of Ezra, and they are known to be particularly adept in their craft. Rongeise swords are known for their exceptional make on the one hand, but on the other, Ezra is said to afflict those who wield the swords callously or mercilessly. There is some truth to this legend, for if a sword made with Rongeise steel and made into a magic weapon by an Ezrite cleric, that sword will become cursed. If a wielder used such a sword to kill a sentient creature unprovoked, the blade will cause the user to become obessively protective and infatuated with it, eventually turning into a Bladewight when enough of the wielder's sanity has rotted away.[3]
