The Guzman family is a family of wereshark pearl divers fiercely protective of their diving territories. The Guzman family reside in Puertomar, Resistencia and hold a terrible enmity for the Obando family for their monopoly over the pearl market. The Guzmans greatly respect General Martin José Maconda, with two of their number having worked under him in the war for independence.[1]
