Sidnar

Sidnar lies on the Khourx River above, and upriver from, Lake Korst on the frontier of the Mistlands. Indeed, in terms of geography it should belong to the Mountains of Misery region, but it is included in that of the Mistlands because of its elven population.

Sidnar is not the most accessible place in Darkon. Riverboats connect the Vuchar River and Lake Korst via the lower leg of the Khourx River also known as the Korst River. Sidnar is reached from Delagia and the lake by a road known as the The Ascent. It crosses the Khourx River via the Brooding Bridge as it reaches Sidnar. A maze of country roads connects Delagia and Karg. Prior to the Scourge of Arak in 588 BC, a road led from Sidnar to the heart of the Mountains of Misery where it met the road that preceded that the envisioned Strigos Road and that at that time joined the Old Svalich Road in eastern Barovia. The road from Sidnar would have passed between Mount Nirka and Mount Nyid. The principle function of the road died with the Arakians with the Scourge of Arak in 588 BC. The reputation that Arak would acquire in subsequent years was ample deterence against the use of the road for prospecting or exploring beyond the Darkonian frontier. Whether the Darkonian portion of the road remained in use and was maintained over the decades is unknown, but unlikely as Sindar is not Tempe Falls, having little in the way of the dwarves and gnomes who far happy to work beneath the earth.
