Atheism is the absence of belief in the gods as opposed to religion which is the presence of faith in the gods. Atheism questions not only the supposed intentions of gods but also their alledged existence. Atheism calls into question and raises doubts about an institution. It challenges the way of being of the religious and of the peoples of whole lands. It challenges the way of being of societies and of their understanding of themselves as children of the gods.
