Heartland Duchy
The Bolshnik family rules the Heartland Duchy and does so with a heavy hand and heavy taxes. The duchy is located in the central and eastern part of northern Nova Vaasa. Its northern and eastern limits are respectively the Darkonese frontier and the Nocturnal Sea. A line extended from Bergovitsa to the sea marks its southern frontier. The point of merging of the Borchava River and the Vaughn Dnar River marks its western frontier. The Borchava Duchy of the Hiregaard family lies to its west and the Ivlis Duchy of the Rivtoff family lies to its south. The vast majority of the Dommark ("Plain of Judgement") and the eastern half of the Elendighedmark ("Plains of Misery") and the Kesjermark ("King’s Plain") lie within the duchy. The temporal leader of the region and of all of Nova Vaasa is Prince Othmar Bolshnik. The spiritual leader is Mathias Bolshnik, the Aerkebiskop of Kantora. Kantora and Egertus are under the sway of the Bolshniks.
