Stupa of the West

The Stupa of the West is a circular mound built from bricks and stone surrounded by eight pillars. It was constructed directly west of Pakat, close to what is now the Misty Border. Ostensibly it is the [[buriamound of some long-forgotten raja in Sri Raji's distant past. Various rajas of Pakat have claimed that their ancestor is buried beneath the mound, but none have offered proof in support of such claims.

The eight pillars were fashioned from sandstone, and each bears an engraving in the shape of an animal. The animals depicted are a tiger, a lion, an elephant, a gorilla, a snake, a bull, a fish, and a horse. Some people have reported hearing the sounds of animals in the presence of the Stupa.
