In 2nd Edition, the character classes of the Player's Handbook were divided into four general groups sorted by orientation:
- Warrior 2E Class Group)]] (Not to be confused with the Warrior NPC Class of 3rd Edition
- Priest (2E Class Group) (Clerics, Druids, and Specialty Priests/Priests of Specific Ethos)
- Wizards (Mages as generalist arcane spellcasters, illusionists, and other Specialist Wizards)
- Rogue (Thief and Bard)
