Table of Life

An artifact guarded by a branch of the Order of the Guardians located on Markovia. The table itself is an indestructible slab of marble with gold veins and rounded edges.

Any creature upon its surface cannot die, regardless of poison, injury, mutilation, starvation, thirst, old age, or other factor. The Table does not prevent pain or similar ill effects; it simply prevents death. However, once a creature has been freed from the Table, all unrepaired harm takes full, fatal effect.

In addition, the Table of Life gradually transforms anyone continuously in its presence into one of the Ancient Dead. This transformation is gradual, and it can occur without its victims realizing they have been changed.
