Lord Balfour de Casteelle

One of the Umbra, the highest-ranking members of the Fraternity of Shadows. He is also a leading professor and the president of the University of Dementlieu in Port-a-Lucine. He holds doctoral degrees in both history and "arcane sciences".

His wife, Lady Cassilda de Casteelle, is five decades younger than himself. She is a talented sorcerer and a faculty member of the University of Dementlieu, presumably in the Department of Arcane Sciences. The pair reside with their two sons in the President's Mansion on the university campus.

Has an owl familiar named Lupzig.

Lourd Balfour de Casteelle has corrsponded with both Dr. Van Richten and the Weathermay-Foxgrove Twins. He even wrote a chapter for Van Richten's Arsenal on magic items. Of course, he peforms his "benevolent" actions to further his own agenda, particularly that of building contacts among adventurers and monster hunters.

Lord Balfour has a doctorate degree in both Arcane Sciences and History.
