Detecting thoughts is much more dangerous and much less save than in the Prime Material Plane. While the sentient undead can mask their thoughts by spells that detect thoughts such as Detect Thoughts, sentient undead can mask their thoughts with whatever they please. And for a mortal, initiating mental contact with other alien minds can lead to madness entirely.[1][2].
