Thantosya was a necromancer, prominent Red Wizard of Thay, and a rival to Hazlik in both power and romance. Hazlik coveted the affections of Thantosya's lover Orliab. Thantosya conspired with Hazlik's enemies to exploit this weakness by having Orliab lure Hazlik into a trap. Hazlik was branded with humiiating tattoos and saw his estates destroyed. In revenge, Hazlik killed Orliab and then tortured and killed Thantosya as well.[1]
