They are much more powerful than wolfweres of the common sort, and are described in Ravenloft game products as greater wolfweres. They have a more powerful version of the wolfwere's lulling song and excellent regeneration.[1][2]

According to 2nd Edition materials, greater wolfweres are the children of Harkon Lukas and wolfwere mothers[3], ,{{Spec|implying that Harkon Lukas can and does mate with humans.
On the other hand, 3rd Edition makes no call on whether the mother must be a wolfwere or a human, but it's specified that only a fraction of the wolfweres descended directly from Harkon Lukas become greater wolfweres.[4]
