Mircea Giurgiu is a Half-Vistani Falkovnian wizard (diviner specialist) who at one time resided in the Radiant Tower. He used the Radiant Tower as both an orphanage and a school of the arcane. Mircea frequently had to pay handsome bribes to the Talons to keep them from interfering with his school, but he occasionally made use of the Fool's Gold spell to cheat them.[1]
Mircea's Vistani heritage as a giomorgo is what drew him to study divination magic. Sadly, what he knows about the Vistani culture comes from highly invalid sources of information. Mircea passed his fascination of Vistani culture down to his students.[2]
Although only a 6th level spellcaster, Mircea showed skill in strengthening the defenses of the Tower with traps and protective wards both mechanical and magical (although sometimes he had the help of other friendly wizards)[3]. Sadly, all his defensive measures did not keep him from becoming a puppet for Ladislas Sintesti through the use of a cursed hypnotic crystal ball Ladislas arranged to have fall in Mircea's possession.[4]
Eventually the foul activities of the Ebon Fold in the Well of Bones catacombs beneath the Radiant Tower were discovered, and the Falkovnian Army assumed control of the Radiant Tower, burnt it to the ground, and rebuilt it for their own use.[5] The fate of Mircea Giugiu and his students is unknown. They may have perished when the Tower was taken. However, Mircea's cowardly nature led him to create covert means of escape from the tower[6], so it's also possible they could have made a clean getaway.
