Doom Guards[1], sometimes referred to as dread guards[2], are magical constructs that are at most a suit of armor and a weapon. They are not undead, and unlike a golem they are of limited intelligence. They exist almost exclusively in fortresses such as castles and dungeons, and almost always acting as a guard.[1][2]
The traditional process of creation for creating doom guards, at least the one employed by Azalin[3], is not what one would expect, as no spells or cast magic is used. Instead, they are meticulously forged on an enchanted Anvil of Darkness by somebody skilled in armorsmithing.[1][4] (Axrock provides this role for Azalin.[3]) However, it is possible for a 15th level or higher spellcaster to create one.[5]
