Gladys, the Snow Queen and Balthos, the Fire King are husband and wife united only in being co-darklords of a domain. They hold venomous hatred for each other, and their animosity brought disaster to their kingdom. Once human, they were transformed according to their savage natures. Gladys, cold and haughty, became a frostwind virago (see the 3.5 Monster Manual V), whereas Balthos, consumed by fiery desires, became a fire giant. Each rules half of the domain steeped in climate that reflects their nature and are barred from entering the opposite's region of control.
