Master Bralkain was a vampire. Formerly a member of the Kargat and a servant of Azalin, he later went on to become one of the Unholy Order of the Grave and a servant of Death (Lowellyn Dachine. However, his ultimate goal was to use the Key to the Abyss to summon and bind a fiend, though this ultimately resulted gaining the dreadful attentions of the free-willed Whispering Fiend, initially in conjuring the Fiend the Abyss and then drawing the Fiend's attention from elsewhere in the Demiplane of Dread almost a century later.
History
Bralkain has served Azalin for 170 years as a member of the Kargat. In life, back in 580 BC, he led the team of wizards from Karg who accidentally created this artifact and thereby unleashed the Whistling Fiend upon the Land of Mists.
