Bolshnik Family

The Bolshnik Family owns the Heartland Duchy in north-central and north-eastern Nova Vaasa. Its northern and western limits are respectively the Darkonese border and the Sea of Sorrows. A line extended from Bergovitsa to the sea marks its southern border. The point of merging of the Borchava River and the Vaughn Dnar River marks its western border. Kantora and Egertus fall then under the sway of the Bolshniks. Stonegard, the seat of the Bolshnik family, sits opposite Kantora on the north bank of the Vaughn Dnar River

The Bolshnik Family were one of the five families that rule Nova Vaasa by rotating the position of prince between their respective patriarchs in a process named the Cycle of Stewarts. In 729 Kethmar Bolshnik was serving as prince when he died in office. His son [[Othmar Bolshnik became prince in his sted, under the tutelege of a regent, Sir Tristen Hiregaard, at the request of his father. At the end of the Bolshnik term of office Othmar refused to step down claiming that the regency had robbed him and his family of their turn in office. By remaining in office, Prince Othmar Bolshnik broke the Cycle of Stewarts. He remains in office today.
