A corpse candle is the spirit of someone who has been murdered and cannot rest under their killer has been found and brought to justice. The flame of a corpse candle remains visible in the eye of the murder victim's corpse until it has found a host for its vengeance, whom it compels to seek justice against its transgressor. Otherwise, a corpse candle is continually invisible and incorporeal.[1]
Corpse candles can be found in many domains, including the following: Barovia[2], Forlorn[3], Hazlan[4], Mordent[5], Richemulot[6], and Sithicus[7].
